LOCATION - SYDNEY, CAPE BRETON ISLAND (UNAMA’KI), NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Process Engineer to join our growing team as a full time, permanent team member. This is a unique opportunity to meaningfully impact the early success of the company and contribute to the advancement of our transformational hydrous Bio-Graphene Oxide admixture products.
The ideal candidate will enjoy working independently with a strong sense of purpose and responsibility. As you will be advancing new technology, there is no playbook; critical thinking and practical problem-solving skills are essential. You will be working shoulder to shoulder with your colleagues in a hands-on, innovation driven environment to develop, test and deploy new technologies to market.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE
· Installation, start up and commissioning of bench scale pyrolysis and media milling units
· Conceptual design, modeling, and simulation of milling, pyrolysis, gas upgrading, and liquid phase exfoliation processes
· Operational oversight of commercial scale liquid phase exfoliation pilot plant
· Coordinate with research and development team on scaling processes from bench including quality management plan
· Support conceptual design, engineering, procurement, and construction of commercial scale bio-graphene admixture production plant with third party engineering partners
· Participate directly in the design, development and piloting of new products and processes
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
· A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Engineering Chemistry from a recognized post-secondary institution
· Some experience working with conceptual design and chemical plant EPC
· Data analysis and process simulation experience (e.g., Aspen, Chemcad, CFD modeling)
· Proven capabilities in writing reports and other technical documents
· Ability to work independently with accuracy and urgency
· Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships in a collaborative team environment
· Demonstrated English communication skills, both oral and written
· Must have a valid driver's license Conducting experiments and pilot plant trials to validate process designs and scale-up production
· Experience troubleshooting and resolving process-related issues to maintain production continuity
· Developing and maintaining process documentation, including operating procedures and training materials
· Developing process flow diagrams and equipment specifications
· Keeping abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in chemical engineering
DESIRED SKILLS
· Familiarity with media milling, colloidal dispersion, pyrolysis, and syngas upgrading technologies
· Familiarity with machine learning concepts nanomaterials, spectroscopic analytical techniques
· Sound competence with piping and electrical trades
