Full job description
Ultimately, as the head of operations within the Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Manager is responsible for managing the overall pharmacy environment and ensuring compliance with all licensing, regulations, and laws. The primary role of the Pharmacy Manager is to lead the efficient functioning of the pharmacy and oversee dispensing. It is their management responsibilities that set them apart from the regular on-duty pharmacists. Taking on the leadership role, the Pharmacy Manager is at the forefront of building strong interpersonal relationships between the pharmacy staff, the local community, and other healthcare members.
Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:
- Empower staff to provide timely, quality care and exceptional customer service
- Collaborate with interest-holders to improve health outcomes, safety, and service levels
- Develop and retain a high-functioning team
- Promote awareness and growth of pharmacy services
- Operate in compliance with all governing bodies and regulations
- Plan, direct, and evaluate the operations and financial performance of the pharmacy
- Perform the duties of a pharmacist
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy.
- Licensed to practice and have good standing with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
- One (1) plus years in a retail or community pharmacy environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrates leadership qualities and an applicable set of skills along with action-oriented behaviors to lead in a fast-paced environment.
- Five (5) years of progressive pharmacy experience and previous experience managing a pharmacy.
- Able to anticipate and manage planned and unplanned staff absences.
- Demonstrated ability to create an environment of innovation and excellence. Passion for the pharmaceutical industry and commitment to continuous improvement through optimizing work processes.
- Highly motivated, self-directed, and innovative professional who values teamwork.
- Demonstrated visionary with creative and collaborative management approach.
- Brand-oriented with a friendly and positive demeanor to model a strong customer focus.
- Ability to lead and work as part of a team and a willingness to be involved in the community.
- Proficient in pharmacy information systems and technology. Knowledge of and comfort with Plan W and other provincial and private benefit plans.
- High level of professionalism and strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to communicate effectively with patients and coworkers to maximize accuracy in the delivery of customer care.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrates strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and pharmacy management systems such as Kroll.
- Current BC driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to commit to actively upholding and consistently practicing personal diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness, as well as safety and sensitivity approaches in the workplace.
Nature and Scope:
The nature and scope of positions may include some or all of the following:
- Ability to lift 10 pounds and, at times, up to 30 pounds.
- In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and overtime as required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
- Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
- Exposure to Health Canada-approved cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to use tools and equipment appropriate for a dispensary.
Before starting employment, a Criminal Record Check will be required. Should the results of such inquiries indicate there is a criminal record that is relevant to the position applied for, a review must take place with respect to the applicant's suitability for appointment.
The position will require the ability to successfully maintain valid certifications in assigned training, such as and not limited to WHMIS, Minor Ailments, Opioid Agonist Therapy & Injection Certification.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
