We are currently looking for a dynamic and personable Full Time Operational/Packaging Pharmacist to join our Yurek Pharmacy & Home HealthCare team in St. Thomas, Ontario.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, Pharmacy Operations, the Operational/Packaging Pharmacist position plays an essential role in the quality and safety of our patients’ medications. They are responsible for the supervision of the Dispensary Assistants and Registered Pharmacy Technicians to ensure efficient and accurate distribution of our products and services. With professional knowledge, experience and a compassionate nature, the Pharmacist will bring a specialized approach to our team and clients that brings an incomparable value.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Provides exceptional customer care to homes, retirement communities, and other clients serviced by YPL Pharmacy adherence packaging unit, providing support as needed to always ensure outstanding care and service.
· Communicates with all members of the resident care team while maintaining professionalism by following corporate policies to ensure the highest standard of customer care, optimal client care, and quality of pharmacy service at all times.
· Serves as a liaison between YPL retail pharmacy operations and adherence packaging operations.
· Participates in quality procedures as per ISO guidelines and Yurek policies and procedures.
· Maintains accurate, organized, and complete client health records always ensuring appropriate documentation and continuity of care.
· Conduct resident medication regimen/profile reviews with associated documentation of recommendations and follow associated billings processes when applicable.
· Assists in maintaining and monitoring of pharmacy inventory.
· Participates in the training and support for newly hired and existing pharmacy team members when required.
· Participates in ongoing continuing education, remaining current in pharmaceutical, medical, and professional licensing information in addition to corporate updates, policies, and standards.
· Embrace the full scope/expanded role of the pharmacist including extending/amending prescriptions, smoking cessation counselling, pharmaceutical opinions, Medschecks®, vaccination and other injection clinics, minor ailments prescribing clinics, etc.
· Provide injections beyond the standard under the OCP guidelines with medical directive for YPL Pharmacists from a physician or Nurse Practitioner (i.e., Long-Acting Antipsychotics)
· Supervise and educate students.
· Evaluates appropriateness of prescription orders with consideration for patient safety and legal requirements
· Support the compliance/adherence pack checking and pouch packaging dispensing system checking.
· Support the Dispensary Assistants and Registered Pharmacy Technicians with trouble shooting through challenges with third party payors for clients.
· Maintains confidentiality and protects personal and organizational information at all times.
· Works collaboratively and supports efforts of team members.
· Participation in weekend and on-call shift rotation for retail pharmacy operations
· Willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction as an informal leader in the pharmacy.
· Setting high standards of performance for self and others.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Current Licensed Pharmacist (Part A) in good standing in the Province of Ontario required.
· Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C, and Injection Certified.
· Experience with KROLL Pharmacy software is preferred/an asset.
· Supervisory experience and experience in diverse institutions desirable.
· The ability to communicate effectively to maximize accuracy in the delivery of patient care.
· Strong Interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, co-workers, and other healthcare professionals.
· Ability to complete daily travel.
· Current and Valid Driver's License in the Province of Ontario.
· Access to a reliable vehicle.
Working Conditions
The Operational/Packaging Pharmacist’s work occurs in a Packaging Dispensary setting. They will generally work Monday to Friday, day shift. They will be required to provide coverage on a rotational basis on weekends and as needed on evenings.
Physical Requirements
The Operational/Packaging Pharmacist spends varying amounts of time on their feet (up to the full shift): stand/walk for full shift as well as lift, push, pull, carry, or otherwise move objects of varying weights regularly. Occasionally will be required to lift up to 20 lbs., unassisted, and bend, twist, and reach to move merchandise or other items. They will also spend varying amounts of time sitting at a desk, using the computer, and performing other seated desk work. They will answer phone calls as required. They also will be required to interact frequently and regularly with customers, other team members, healthcare professionals, and external agencies/vendors through a variety of communication channels.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50.00-$56.00 per hour
