Machine Shop Supervisor

Industries we serve include telecommunications, medical, nuclear, transportation and military. We are looking for an individual who has strong knowledge of CNC Machining and Programming to support the overall success of our business by leading our Machining Department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise as well as coordinate activities of workers engaged in production machining , applying knowledge of procedures, machine tool setup operating techniques, and also production machining methods
• Manage the performance and development of the department resources through training, informal feedback and individual performance.
• Support the organization to achieve performance targets for quality, product realization and customer satisfaction.
• Organize resources and workflow to maximize efficiencies and monitor daily performances
• Actively participate on the shop floor through management by walking around: check status of ongoing work, check employees, equipment and tooling.
• Analyze work orders, schedules and other specifications to determine parts and assemblies requiring fabrication, modification, or repair and assist with equipment/product changeovers.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 10 years experience in a machining environment, 5 years in a supervisory role
• Certified general machinist (an asset)
• Competent on conventional and CNC machines, up to 9 Axis
• Have knowledge of Mastercam programming; hands on experience an asset
• Customer service oriented with a high attention to detail
• Possess strong problem solving skills
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings/blueprints, specification to determine tooling requirements and sequence of operations to manufacture complex components to close tolerances
• Strong knowledge of GD & T
• Ability to accurately verify the conformance of parts
