Full job description
Established in 2022 Maskunow Construction commenced operations as a granular surfacing crew and in 2023 expanded into the highway paving industry, and into the seal coat industry in 2024. Based on a strong work program we are poised for continued strong growth in 2026. We continue to build a high performing team by hiring quality people who have a strong desire to succeed in the industry. We have invested in top-tier late model equipment and are committed to achieving a high standard of workmanship and productivity.
We are looking for someone with extensive road building experience who wants to join a growing company and who takes pride in their work. Travel throughout Saskatchewan during the summer road construction season is required.
We welcome applications from 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year apprentices as we have several full-time heavy duty mechanics who are willing to provide apprenticeship. We operate in a fast-paced environment, which includes multiple work-sites throughout Saskatchewan.
Here are some of the highlights:
- Depending on whether you are a full journeyman or an apprentice, the pay range will be from $30.00 / hour to $54.00 / hour.
- Tool allowance and live-out allowance
- Matching pension plan available after one year

- Work is primarily in our Saskatoon shop or within driving distance of Saskatoon so that you will be home most nights
- Shifts during the construction season are typically 10 on / 4 off with most long-weekends off.
- Winter months will be more shop work, with call-outs when necessary
- Service truck provided
Key Responsibilities:
- Performing preventative maintenance services on heavy equipment fleet, trucks, light vehicles and other assets as required
- Troubleshooting and repairs on equipment fleet as required
- Documenting repairs and tracking service intervals
- Ordering parts, supplies/consumables as required
- If you are a journeyman - we would like you to apprentice other mechanics
Qualifications:
- We welcome both journeymen and apprentices to apply
- Welding experience an asset, but not required
- Must own tools
- Driver’s license
- Positive attitude
- Hard working
- Self-starter, able to work alone and unsupervised
- Experience with Electronic Technician and SIS (Caterpillar) and / or other manufacturer’s software an asset

- Able to work away from home
- Successful applicants must pass a fit for duty aka substance test, which includes testing for marijuana
