British Columbia’s Alliance of Beverage Licensees (ABLE BC) is seeking an enthusiastic and relationship-driven professional to join our team as Community Ambassador.

The role’s primary focus is membership recruitment, retention, and relationship management. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Community Ambassador will lead efforts to grow ABLE BC’s membership base and strengthen engagement with existing members across BC’s liquor and cannabis industries.

You will serve as the primary point of contact for members, building strong relationships, understanding their needs, and ensuring they see clear value in their ABLE BC membership. While the role includes communications, events, and administrative responsibilities, these functions support the core objective of growing and engaging membership.

As part of this role, you will develop a strong working knowledge of BC’s liquor and cannabis laws and policies in order to effectively support and advocate for members.

Duties will include:

Membership Growth and Engagement

  • Lead membership recruitment and renewal initiatives across BC
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing members
  • Manage the ABLE BC Member Portal and respond to member inquiries
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for members
  • Enhance member value through engagement initiatives and resources

Communications and Industry Presence

  • Contribute to membership-focused communications and content
  • Support social media and member communications
  • Plan and coordinate ABLE BC’s participation in conferences, annual tradeshows, government receptions, and industry events

Organizational Support

  • Support strategic membership initiatives and help devise responses to critical industry issues
  • Coordinate meetings of ABLE BC Committees and Board of Directors
  • Support the Executive Director and other staff
  • Liaise with stakeholders and industry partners
  • Other duties as assigned

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will bring the following attributes to the position:

  • Proven experience in sales, membership recruitment, business development, or relationship management
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence in outreach and relationship-building
  • Experience in liquor hospitality, liquor or cannabis retail (an asset)
  • Innovative, open-minded thinker with strong time and project management skills
  • Obsessively attentive to details, with the ability to see the bigger strategic picture
  • Collaborative team player who thrives in a small, dynamic environment
  • Experience coordinating events and sponsorship opportunities
  • Creative, resourceful problem-solver with sound judgment
  • Passion and enthusiasm for supporting BC’s private liquor & cannabis industries
  • Familiarity with social media and digital communication tools
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Adobe PDF; graphic design experience is an asset
