Full job description

Jayco Builders Inc. is looking for a detail-driven Carpenter to support commercial, industrial, and residential construction projects. We are looking for someone who has 3-5 years experience working as a general carpenter and can deliver clean workmanship, problem solve, coordinate effectively with the project team, and work independently.

Position Overview

The Carpenter will be responsible for general carpentry scopes including cabinetry, shelving, trim, fixtures, hardware, basic framing and related project execution. The successful candidate must be comfortable working from blueprints and designs, operating hand and power tools safely, and maintaining strong communication between the jobsite and project management team.

Key Responsibilities

· Build and install cabinets, shelves, trim, fixtures, and other finish carpentry components.

· Basic Framing

· Install door handles, hinges, locks, closures, and related hardware with a high level of accuracy.

· Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and designs to complete work that aligns with building code requirements and Jayco quality standards.

· Communicate jobsite progress, constraints, budgets, schedule impacts, and material needs to project management.

· Use and maintain carpentry tools including drills, saws, nail guns, chisels, sanders, and other hand or power tools.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace, including jobsite areas, trailers, and company vehicles when applicable.

· Follow Jayco Builders safety policies, HR policies, and site-specific procedures at all times.

· Monitor subtrade progress from time to time and report relevant updates to the Project Manager or site supervisor.

· Complete additional construction or operational duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

· Finish carpentry experience in residential, commercial, or industrial construction.

· Framing Experience

· Strong working knowledge of cabinetry, shelving, trim, doors, fixtures, hardware, and finish details.

· Ability to read blueprints, drawings, measurements, and project specifications.

· Safe, efficient use of hand tools and power tools.

· Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with project managers, supervisors, suppliers, and site teams.

· Ability to work independently

· A safety-first mindset and willingness to follow all company and jobsite safety procedures.

· Experience prepping and placing concrete considered an asset

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

· Stand, walk, kneel, stoop, crawl, crouch, and climb stairs, ladders, or scaffolding for extended periods.

· Lift, move, and handle materials typically ranging from 20-75 lbs.

· Perform repetitive hand and foot movements and use hands to control hand and power tools.

· Work in jobsite environments with elevated noise levels, changing light conditions, weather exposure, heights, ladders, scaffolding, and occasional confined spaces.

Compensation and Perks

· $22.00-$27.00 per hour, dependent on experience.

· Vacation pay and statutory holiday pay paid in accordance with applicable Alberta employment standards for construction employees.

· Potential access to company-offered discretionary programs, which may include benefits cost sharing, RRSP/TFSA matching, and bonus program eligibility after successful employment, subject to company policy and eligibility requirements.
