The Café Kitchen Assistant is responsible for preparing food for all restaurant menu items, and baked goods, as well as setting up efficient workstations. They will occasionally be responsible for supporting front-of-house duties such as taking orders, serving customers directly, and maintaining cleanliness and standards throughout the property. They are expected to be able to demonstrate a commitment to our house rules and guidelines. They may occasionally be required for additional hours during special events or workshops. All Café Kitchen Assistants are required to obtain their Food Handlers Certification and Smart Serve.

We are looking for individuals who demonstrate strong teamwork and collaborative capacities, are responsible and confident, hold strong attention to detail, and follow directions with ease. The Café Kitchen Assistants are expected to provide outstanding customer service. Outgoing, flexible, and creative personalities are highly welcome within the team. This is a seasonal position that provides ample room for creative expression, and personal and career growth. Interests in cooking and nutrition, and a desire to learn about health and wellness are required.

This is a part-time/full-time, seasonal position. The expected dates for this position are June 10 - October 14. The business is closed from mid-October to the beginning of May each year. This position strongly supports personal and career growth and provides an opportunity to return the following season upon mutual agreement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reports to Managers
  • Maintains safety and cleaning standards throughout the entire back-of-house before, during, and after shift
  • Provides feedback to improve back-of-house operational performance
  • Proficient in food prep, baking and cooking
  • Knowledge of kitchen health and safety requirements
  • Assists Managers in taking inventory when delegated
  • Maintains awareness of weekly menu and prep lists assigned by the Managers
  • Assists the Managers in preparing produce for cooking menu items
  • Supports front-of-house team executing server duties such as taking orders, serving customers directly, and maintaining cleanliness and standards throughout the property
  • Follows instructions, and completes all delegated tasks in a timely manner
  • Prepares menu items according to guidelines thus maintaining consistent and high-quality product standards
  • Ensures kitchen and appliances are ready for use
  • Maintains a clean, hygienic, and organized work environment at all times
  • Knowledge of safe food storage guidelines
  • Communicates clearly with the Supervisory and Managerial Team while on shift
  • Sets out all required ingredients before each shift, and refills as necessary

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 18 – 30 per week
