This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a highly successful and leading container terminal operation on the East Coast of Canada.

Primary Function

The Network & Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for configuring, and maintaining networks, ensuring secure and efficient data flow within organizations. Additional responsibilities include maintaining IT hardware and systems, while ensuring reliable system performance and strong cybersecurity practices.

Core Responsibilities

Network & Infrastructure Management

  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot switches, firewalls, servers and systems
  • Define and enforce policies and procedures across corporate, terminal, and datacentre locations.
  • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis and resolution of complex network, system and security problems for a variety of end users; and recommend and implement corrective hardware and software solutions.
  • Monitor network and system performance, availability, and reliability ensuring the stable operation and efficient performance of company systems.
  • Implement security measures in coordination with the Cybersecurity team.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and inventory systems.
  • Manage device lifecycle and license renewals.
  • Evaluate and recommend for purchase network and datacentre hardware and software products.

Project Collaboration and Support

  • Contribute to system & network designs, upgrades and migrations.
  • Work with Cybersecurity, Service Desk, and Project Management teams.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff and service desk teams.
  • Act as the escalation point for unresolved network & system issues.
  • Collaborate with vendors and maintain documentation and knowledge base articles.

Critical Qualifications/Skills/Experience

  • Minimum three years of experience supporting enterprise network & server infrastructure within complex, multi-site environments.
  • Post-secondary education in technology from an accredited institution.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or similar (assets).
  • Strong expertise in switches, firewalls and wireless networking.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, SD-WAN, Fibre, NAT/PAT and routing protocols.
  • Experience with Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, HP Enterprise network technologies.
  • Experience with DELL PowerEdge, PowerStore and PowerSwitch hardware
  • Proven experience maintaining and optimizing complex network and security architectures.
  • Experience administrating virtual environments (e.g., vSphere).
  • Skilled in system monitoring tools and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Cybersecurity awareness and familiarity with compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to resolve complex network & system issues and align solutions with business goals.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and backup solutions.
  • Experience with scripting and automation using BASH or PowerShell.
  • Ability and availability to provide extended hours and off-hour support.
