Vitalis Comprehensive Healthcare and Vitalis Surgical Centre is a patient-focused surgical facility providing safe, efficient, and high-quality care. Our interdisciplinary team is committed to professionalism, collaboration, and seamless patient experiences . Our comprehensive healthcare facility is designed to offer walk-in, multidisciplinary clinics, endoscopy and surgery under one roof.

We are seeking a full-time, dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacist to build and operate pharmacy services at our 600 sq ft state of the art pharmacy with provision of in-house compounding.

Position Overview

This is a unique opportunity: in addition to competitive full-time compensation, the successful candidate will have the option of profit sharing or independently owning and operating the pharmacy within our facility, with a built-in patient base from a high-volume surgical and specialty clinic. You will work directly with family physicians, specialists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure safe medication management and high-quality patient care. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your expertise directly impacts patient health and safety.

Our clinic is a fast-paced, high-volume environment where teamwork, reliability, and quality matter. It is conveniently situated in southwest Winnipeg in McGillivray Business Park off high traffic McGillivray Boulevard, near one of Winnipeg's fastest growing residential hubs. This position offers an engaging opportunity for licensed pharmacists committed to delivering exceptional patient care within a collaborative healthcare environment. Full-time position with consistent daytime hours; occasional evening or weekend availability

Responsibilities

  • Establish pharmacy operations, policies, and procedures for a healthcare facility
  • Dispense prescription medications accurately in accordance with physicians' orders and legal regulations
  • Provide comprehensive medication counseling to patients, including usage instructions, potential side effects, and interactions, adherence and proper usage to promote optimal health outcomes
  • Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and potential drug interactions using medical terminology expertise and support safe perioperative medication use
  • Monitor patient responses to medications and report adverse reactions or concerns to the medical team
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and modify medication therapy plans
  • Interpret prescriptions accurately and provide clear guidance to patients and healthcare providers
  • Maintain detailed records of medication dispensing, including narcotics and controlled substances, and patient interactions in compliance with healthcare standards
  • Ensure compliance with all pharmacy laws, regulations, and safety protocols required by College of Pharmacists of Manitoba standards, facility accreditation requirements, Health Canada regulations, and PHIA
  • Oversee procurement, assist in inventory management by ordering, stocking, and verifying medication supplies
  • Manage cold chain, expiry tracking, recalls, and adverse drug event reporting
  • Participate in quality improvement, audits, and accreditation readiness
  • Uphold Vitalis standards for professionalism, confidentiality, and patient safety.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited program
  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) with the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba, in good standing
  • Strong knowledge of controlled substance regulations and medication safety standards
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Ability to follow clinical protocols, safety procedures, and documentation standards
  • Professional, compassionate approach to patient care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in hospital, surgical, or high-volume community pharmacy
  • Familiarity with perioperative medication workflows and anesthesia-related agents
  • Sterile and non-sterile compounding training or experience is an asset
  • Experience with EMR and pharmacy management systems (Accuro or equivalent)
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in pharmacy ownership or profit-sharing models
