Full job description

Roni Group is seeking an Earthworks Estimator to prepare cost estimates and proposals for excavation, grading, and site preparation projects. The estimator will analyze grading plans, soil conditions, and environmental requirements to develop accurate and competitive bids for earthmoving and site development operations. The role requires strong knowledge of excavation operations, hauling logistics, and soil management practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review grading plans, civil drawings, and specifications to determine earthwork scope.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for bulk excavation, detailed excavation, grading, and site preparation.
  • Calculate cut and fill volumes and earthmoving requirements.
  • Estimate hauling, disposal, and soil management costs including contaminated soil handling.
  • Prepare estimates for clearing, grubbing, compaction, and site leveling operations.
  • Solicit pricing from trucking companies, disposal facilities, and subcontractors.
  • Identify risks related to soil conditions, groundwater management, and environmental requirements.
  • Participate in constructability reviews and value engineering discussions.
  • Prepare bid summaries and assist with tender submissions.
  • Support project handoff to operations teams following successful bids.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years estimating experience in excavation or earthworks.
  • Strong knowledge of earthmoving equipment and construction operations.
  • Ability to interpret grading plans and calculate cut and fill volumes.
  • Experience with contaminated soil handling and environmental regulations preferred.
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, or PlanSwift.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids in a deadline-driven environment.
