- Contribute to a culture of accountability, sustainability, and operational excellence
- Lead commercial negotiations and manage relationships with project partners, customers, and suppliers
Strategic Growth & Market Development
- Originate, assess, and prioritize electricity project opportunities aligned with Atura Power’s corporate strategy and Ontario’s energy policy direction
- Lead the development of business cases, feasibility assessments, and investment proposals for electricity generation (wind, solar, natural gas) and storage projects
- Monitor IESO procurements, regulatory developments, and funding opportunities
- Originate, structure and negotiate power purchase agreements (PPAs) with commercial and industrial (C&I) customers and data centres to support the commercialization of new generation projects
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of projects and strategic partnerships
- Develop and maintain partnerships with Indigenous communities, municipalities, developers, and government agencies
Project Development & Execution
- Lead or support project development activities, including site selection, permitting, stakeholder engagement, Indigenous community engagement, and managing municipal or local support
- Collaborate with internal technical, commercial, and legal teams to structure and advance projects to investment decision
- Oversee due diligence, financial analysis, and risk assessments for potential acquisitions or partnerships
- Ensure projects meet environmental, regulatory, and public-sector compliance standards
Financial Accountability
- Own development budgets for assigned opportunities and ensure expenditures remain aligned with approved business cases and stage-gate authorities.
- Lead project financial and commercial analysis, including capital and operating cost assumptions, revenue structures, project returns, sensitivities and risk-adjusted economics.
- Develop business cases supporting progression from feasibility through development and ultimately FID.
- Work closely with Finance and Commercial teams to validate project economics and investment assumptions.
- Assess the financial implications of alternative technology, contracting, financing and partnership structures.
- Recommend when development capital should be advanced, deferred, redirected or stopped based on project economics, development maturity and risk.
- Maintain disciplined capital allocation across the opportunity portfolio and provide management with clear visibility to development spend, forecast requirements and expected value creation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics or a related discipline; MBA, P.Eng. or other relevant graduate/professional designation considered an asset.
- 8–12 years of progressive experience in business development, project development, or strategy within the electricity or energy sector required
- Demonstrated experience advancing complex infrastructure or energy projects from origination and feasibility through development, commercial structuring and investment approval/FID.
- Strong knowledge of power-generation project economics and familiarity with natural gas generation, electricity markets, transmission/interconnection and major project development.
- Experience with data centres, large-load customers, behind-the-meter generation, corporate PPAs or other customer-driven energy solutions considered a strong asset.
- Demonstrated capability in financial modelling, investment analysis, business-case development and commercial negotiations.
- Strong project leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, consultants and external advisors simultaneously.
- Strong executive communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical, commercial and financial issues into clear recommendations.
- Entrepreneurial and commercially oriented, with the ability to identify opportunities, challenge assumptions and make disciplined decisions in an uncertain development environment.
- Strong project leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, consultants and external advisors simultaneously.
