Build a Legacy. Lead Complex Planning. Make an Impact.

We are seeking an experienced Tax Principal to join our growing Tax Advisory and Family Office practice. This leadership role is ideal for a senior tax professional who is passionate about helping entrepreneurial families, business owners, and high-net-worth individuals navigate complex tax, estate, and succession matters.

As a trusted advisor, you will lead sophisticated planning engagements, provide technical leadership across the firm, and work closely with our Family Office, Assurance, and Advisory teams to deliver integrated solutions for clients. The role combines high-level strategic tax planning with technical excellence, mentoring, and practice development.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Planning & Advisory Leadership

  • Lead complex tax planning engagements for private companies, business owners, trusts, estates, and family office clients.
  • Design and oversee implementation of estate freezes, corporate reorganizations, succession planning strategies, trust structures, compensation planning, and wealth transfer solutions.
  • Provide strategic tax advice to high-net-worth families and multi-generational family enterprises.
  • Collaborate with lawyers, investment advisors, insurance specialists, and other professionals to deliver integrated planning solutions.
  • Monitor tax legislation and emerging developments, identifying opportunities and risks for clients and the firm.

Technical Excellence & Quality Control

  • Serve as a senior technical resource for complex Canadian tax matters.
  • Review and provide technical oversight on complex corporate, personal, trust, estate, and partnership tax returns.
  • Review tax provisions, tax disclosures, and income tax-related matters arising from assurance and financial statement engagements.
  • Prepare and review technical tax memoranda, planning reports, and tax research.
  • Support firm-wide tax quality control, risk management, and technical standards.

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor and develop Tax Managers, Senior Managers, and emerging tax professionals.
  • Deliver internal tax training and technical education.
  • Promote a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Support recruitment and growth of the firm's tax and family office teams.

Business Development & Client Growth

  • Identify tax planning opportunities within existing client relationships.
  • Support Partners and Family Office leaders in developing and expanding client relationships.
  • Contribute to the continued growth of the firm's Tax Advisory and Family Office practices.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation required.
  • Completion of, or significant progress toward, the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program.
  • Minimum 12 years of public accounting tax experience.
  • Strong expertise in private company taxation, owner-manager planning, trusts and estates, and corporate reorganizations.
  • Demonstrated experience with complex tax planning and advisory engagements.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship management, and leadership skills.
  • Passion for advising entrepreneurial families and helping clients achieve long-term business and family goals.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to play a key leadership role within an entrepreneurial and growing firm that is expanding its focus on Family Office, private client, and strategic advisory services. You will work alongside a collaborative team of professionals while helping shape the future of the firm's tax and family office offerings.
