Full job description
CGI is looking for an experienced Business Development / Sales/Delivery Lead to help grow our Government of Canada business in Ottawa.
This is an opportunity for someone who knows the federal government landscape, understands how technology priorities translate into business opportunities, and has built trusted relationships across public sector organizations.
You’ll have the opportunity to combine business development, client leadership, IT delivery and people leadership while helping government clients solve complex challenges through technology and consulting services.
What Will Make You Successful
You understand that successful public sector business development is about more than selling technology.
You know how to build credibility, understand government priorities, navigate complex stakeholder environments and bring the right people together around a client problem.
You are equally comfortable discussing a client’s strategic priorities, shaping a technology opportunity, working through commercial considerations and partnering with delivery teams to ensure CGI delivers on its commitments.
Most importantly, you build relationships for the long term.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Drive Government of Canada Growth
Build and expand relationships with key decision-makers across federal government organizations. You’ll identify client priorities, open new doors, uncover and qualify opportunities, and lead opportunities through the sales lifecycle to close.
You’ll apply disciplined business development and sales practices, use CRM effectively, and work with CGI teams to develop compelling solutions to government business and technology challenges.
Become a Trusted Client Partner
Develop a deep understanding of your clients’ operational, technology and strategic priorities.
You’ll bring together CGI capabilities and expertise to help clients address challenges across areas such as:
- Digital transformation and modernization
- Cloud and infrastructure
- Cybersecurity
- Application development and management services
- Automation
- Large-scale systems implementation
- Managed services
Own and Grow a Book of Business
Take accountability for the financial performance and growth of your portfolio.
You’ll contribute to business planning, forecasting and investment decisions while ensuring existing and future engagements remain financially healthy.
Lead Successful Client Delivery
Stay closely connected to the delivery of major IT engagements, ensuring CGI consistently meets or exceeds client expectations for quality, timelines, risk management and budget.
You’ll work across sales, delivery and technical teams to turn strong client relationships into long-term partnerships.
Lead and Develop People
Lead, coach and support talented CGI professionals serving our government clients.
You’ll help team members grow their careers by creating an environment built on trust, transparency, collaboration and accountability.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- 8+ years of relevant business, consulting, technology, sales or client leadership experience, with meaningful experience in the Canadian public sector
- Direct experience selling to, delivering services to, or working within Government of Canada organizations
- A strong understanding of the federal government landscape, including how decisions are made and technology initiatives move from priorities to funded programs and procurements
- Established relationships and/or a strong professional network within the Government of Canada ecosystem
- Demonstrated success identifying, developing and closing consulting, technology, managed services or government IT opportunities
- Experience managing client relationships and becoming a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders
- Experience delivering or overseeing significant technology engagements within government
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience managing a portfolio, P&L or significant program budgets
- Experience leading, coaching or developing teams of technology and/or business professionals
- Strong communication, negotiation, influencing and relationship-building skills
- The ability to collaborate across technical, delivery, business and partner teams to achieve results
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $135,000–$185,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
