Position Role

Reporting to the V.P. Exploration, the Senior Geologist will lead a seasoned exploration team to advance exploration and resource development on the Monument Bay gold project located in northeastern Manitoba. This is a full-time position with company benefits. This role will direct and lead the activities of a team of geologists and field technicians and multiple drill rigs operating on resource definition and exploration activities on the project within the Stull Lake Greenstone Belt. Accommodation and meals, and the rotational costs to and from the project site would be covered by ONGold Resources Ltd. (“ONGold”). The ideal candidate would be ready to start work immediately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain a clean and safe working environment for all staff including strict adherence to health, safety, environmental and community relations concerns and regulations.
  • Plan, coordinate and manage all diamond drill programs and activities in support of exploration.
  • Lead and supervise all geology-related work including mapping, drilling, logging and sampling of drill core, geochemical sampling programs and structural analysis on drill core.
  • Oversee geologic and resource modelling.
  • Comply with internal Company policies and procedures pertaining to the position.

Inherent Qualification of the Job – Minimum Qualifications

  • A degree in Geology/Earth Sciences is required
  • M.Sc or advanced degree in Geology or Geological Engineering would be considered an asset.
  • Registered P.Geo with a Provincial Association in good standing or eligible.
  • A Valid Driver’s License (Employment with the company is provisional based on being able to be insured to drive company vehicles).
  • Have your Own Vehicle would also be an asset.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in mineral exploration and/or mining with minimum 3-5 years in a supervisory role. Open-pit and Underground mine geology operations experience would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in geological mapping, diamond drill and geophysical programs.
  • Managing core logging geologists, field exploration crews and technicians is required.
  • Strong technical expertise.
  • Gold exploration experience, specifically in Archean greenstone settings is required.
  • Industry standard GIS and 3D modelling experience for planning drill holes and resource modelling in one or more of the following: GeoSpark Logging software preferred; GIS preferred is ArcGIS Pro; 3D Software preferred is Leapfrog; MS Office Suite.
  • Drill program and field exploration planning and implementation.
  • Exploration target generation and prioritization.
  • Advanced exploration and scoping study (PEA-level) project evaluation and analysis on exploration assets as well as the evaluation potential new assets for acquisition would be an asset.
  • Establishing and maintaining QA/QC procedures and protocols.
  • Reviewing and assisting with the preparation of Press Releases; assay result verification for public release.
  • Previous experience with oriented core – data collection, quality control and evaluation.
  • Drill hole deviation and survey tracking and management
  • Experienced in both shallow and deep, detailed drill programs involving wedging and directional drilling.
  • Mentorship and continued career development support for all geologists on the exploration team.
  • Development and implementation of exploration standard operational procedures.
  • Bid contract review and analysis.
  • Assist with the preparation of exploration and drilling budgets, budget monitoring and invoice approving.
  • Approving geological staff timesheets for submission to payroll.
  • Well-developed writing skills to prepare assessment and technical reports.
  • NRCan NDTCB Certification – Portable XRF – an asset but not required
  • First Aid/CPR and ATV/UTV certification is desirable.

  • Excellent and proven track record working with First Nations and local community members.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading a team in an exploration geology and/or mining environment.
  • Have a good sense of organization and attention to detail.
  • Enjoy working in remote areas and field camps.
  • Strong commitment to safety, health, risk management, and environmental standards.
  • A highly motivated individual with a goal driven mindset.

Additional Information

  • This is a permanent position, and he/she can start immediately.
  • Group Benefit Package available including vacation time.
  • During active drilling or field exploration campaigns, the successful candidate will be required to undertake rotations to site. The ideal rotation would be 16 days on (including travel days), 10-hour workday, and 14 days off. Flexibility is required depending on field program duration. However, during time off, the senior geologist would be required to still monitor the site programs and resolve issues if any should arise.
  • The candidate will be supplied with a company laptop computer.
  • During off season, the candidate will work at home. Although a candidate living in the Winnipeg region would be ideal, other candidates living elsewhere will be considered.
  • Travel, Room and Board is provided.
