Full job description

Seeking a childcare supervisor who will manage, lead, and be part of the foundational team at a large childcare centre (90+ children) in Richmond Hill.

The successful candidate is an experienced and exceptional RECE that will provide supervision and leadership to ensure the nurturing care and education to young children in a childcare environment. They will lead in accordance with the goals, curriculum, philosophy and policies set out by management.

The supervisor will be responsible for the strict compliance with the CCEYA, the Ministry of Education, York Region's Children Services, Public Health and other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

  • Registered ECE (Required)
  • Good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Minimum 5 years working in a licensed childcare facility in Supervisory role
  • Valid Police Vulnerable Sector Screening, First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate - Level C, and meet health requirements
  • Food Handler's Certificate an asset
  • Fluent computer skills (email, word processing, speadsheet, childcare management apps)

The supervisor's primary duties and responsibilities include

  • Ensure centre complies with the Ministry of Education Child Care and Early Years Act and the Municipal criteria
  • Collaborate with staff to develop and implement creative child programs that are age appropriate
  • Develop and grow philosophies and practices to meet the children's needs
  • Foster an environment that respects children’s strengths, rights, and needs
  • Oversee programming content and age appropriateness of programming
  • Ensure that children receive healthy, nutritious, and balanced lunches and snacks in accordance with all applicable public health
  • Maintain accurate records on each child including medical, consent forms, transition and attendance records
  • Lead staff by motivating, mentoring, and coaching
  • Promote staff performance through frequent formal and informal constructive feedback and staff evaluations
  • Identify training and professional development opportunities for staff
  • Manage the logistical elements of staffing such as organizing staffing requirements and schedules, timesheets, maintaining accurate and up-to-date staff records, and scheduling staff meetings
  • Responsible for maximizing enrolment through promoting, marketing, and advertising the centre
  • Pursue alternative funding, such as subsidies, grants, fundraising, and donations
  • Make sure safety and cleanliness is maintained in the classrooms and in the centre
  • Maintain the quality, raise the standard of the centre and enrollments, waitlist
  • Maintain ongoing and regular communication with parents through various methods such as emails, newsletters, monthly update.
  • Reporting to, and communicating closely with management
  • Ensuring that all legislation pertaining to the CCEYA and Operating criteria are implemented
  • Working closely with management and oversee in all aspects of the day-to- day operations of the centre
  • Lead and mentor staff in the development and implementation of children’s programming
  • Ability to work as an effective team member, fostering a child-centered, family-friendly atmosphere
  • Assist in age appropriate and positive Behaviour Management of children
  • Communicating and supporting families, with a high ESL component and diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Lead regarding managing external human resources (such as volunteers, students)
  • Lead in managing facilities and ensure a safe and healthy environment
  • Able to support management in the implementation of appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Ensure Staff and Children’s files up-to-date
  • Regular meetings with Parents, Staff, and management
  • Meeting and maintaining Subsidy requirements and Criteria Check
  • Maintaining Social Media and regular promotions
  • All the Classroom and Office files, folders up to date and labelled
  • Additional duties required by management to ensure proper centre operations
