Special Needs Mobility Specialist (Part-Time School Bus Driver)

What You'll Do

  • Safely transport students with special needs on a dedicated school route
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, and schools
  • Conduct daily vehicle safety inspections
  • Maintain a clean and safe vehicle
  • Follow company policies and transportation regulations
  • Provide exceptional customer service every day

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 3 years of driving experience (including 1 year in North America)
  • Valid non-probationary driver's license
  • Strong driving record
  • Customer service experience
  • Compassion, patience, and professionalism
  • Class 1, 2, or 4 Alberta Operator's License (or willingness to obtain one)

Experience working with children or individuals with special needs is an asset.

Schedule

Monday to Friday (August to June)

  • Morning Route: Approximately 6:30 AM – 9:00 AM
  • Afternoon Route: Approximately 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM
  • School days only
  • 4–6 hours per day
  • Minimum 20 hours per week guaranteed

Employment Requirements

Successful candidates must provide:

  • Police Information Check – Including a Vulnerable Persons Search
  • Child Intervention Record Check
  • 10-year Commercial Driver's Abstract

Physical requirements

The role of Mobility Specialist requires moderate physical activity when manipulating wheelchairs, or wheelchair harnesses and straps, daily. You must also be able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, and crouch.

It also requires minor mechanical knowledge to be able to safety inspect your vehicle, such as under-the-hood fluid checks, tire checks etc.

You will be exposed to seasonal weather conditions, both inside and outside of the vehicle.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
