Full job description

About Haven Greens
Haven Greens is at the forefront of sustainable agriculture in Ontario, growing premium leafy greens year-round through cutting-edge Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) technology. Our state-of-the-art greenhouse harnesses renewable energy and advanced hydroponic systems to deliver fresh, locally grown produce — reducing the environmental footprint of traditional farming and the carbon cost of long-haul supply chains.
As a growth-stage company, we offer a rare opportunity to build something from the ground up. You will work alongside a passionate, mission-driven team to set new standards in sustainable food production — and grow your career as the business scales.

About the Role
The Content & Community Lead will be the voice and storyteller of Haven Greens. Reporting to the VP Marketing, this role owns our content and social media presence end-to-end — creating content that stops the scroll, builds genuine community, and ultimately drives people to choose Haven Greens at shelf. You will bring our products, people, and greenhouse to life across digital channels and in the real world, while also supporting brand marketing materials, influencer partnerships, and email communications.
This is not a “post and schedule” role. We’re looking for a hands-on creator with strong instincts, a genuine passion for storytelling, and the scrappiness to thrive in a fast-moving startup environment. If figuring things out on the fly energizes rather than stresses you, you’ll fit right in.

Key Responsibilities
Content Creation

  • Short-Form Video: Produce high-quality short-form video content (Instagram Reels, TikTok, and emerging formats) that drives emotional resonance — the kind of post someone saves, shares, or sends to a friend.
  • Content Strategy & Ideation: Develop content ideas rooted in real-world usage occasions (quick lunches, family dinners, entertaining, seasonal moments) and bring them to life on camera and in the edit.
  • Production & Publishing: Shoot, edit, and publish content consistently (3–5x per week) across platforms, capturing moments at home, in-store, at the greenhouse, and at events.
  • Trends & Platform Awareness: Stay ahead of platform trends and identify opportunities to participate in a way that feels authentic and on-brand.
  • Design Support: Create quick-turn marketing assets in Canva and with AI tools — banners, sell sheets, social graphics, and other brand collateral as needed.

Social Media & Community Management

  • Platform Ownership: Own and manage Haven Greens’ presence across Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn (and other platforms as relevant), tailoring content by platform rather than simply cross-posting.
  • Community Engagement: Actively engage with our community — responding to comments and DMs, starting conversations, and turning followers into genuine fans.
  • Performance & Analytics: Monitor performance metrics and use data to inform content decisions, optimize posting cadence, and report on growth and engagement.

Influencer & Creator Partnerships

  • Influencer Strategy: Identify, vet, and manage relationships with micro-influencers and content creators whose audiences align with the Haven Greens brand.
  • Partnerships & Outreach: Coordinate product sends, briefings, and partnership agreements, guiding content direction to ensure authenticity and brand alignment.
  • Retail & Brand Collaborations: Work with retailers and brand partners on co-branded and cross-promotional content opportunities.

Brand Storytelling & Communications

  • Brand Voice: Develop and steward the Haven Greens brand voice across all content channels — turning complex product benefits (freshness, convenience, shelf life, local provenance) into simple, compelling, repeatable narratives.
  • Content Programming: Build content themes and series that deepen brand recognition and audience loyalty over time.
  • Email Marketing: Manage and execute the Haven Greens email newsletter (Mailchimp), including content planning, copywriting, and distribution.
  • Owned Channels: Support updates to website and other owned-channel content as needed.

Events & On-the-Ground Activation

  • Event Content: Capture content at events, in-store activations, and greenhouse visits, turning real-world moments into compelling digital content.
  • Event Support: Support marketing events and activations when needed, acting as both a content creator and a brand ambassador on the ground.

General Support

  • Additional Responsibilities: Undertake other content, marketing, and communications tasks as assigned, supporting the evolving needs of the business as Haven Greens grows and new priorities emerge.

Qualifications
Must-Have:

  • 4+ years of experience in marketing, content, social media, or creator roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality short-form video content — this is non-negotiable. A portfolio or content examples are required to apply.
  • Strong writing skills with a natural, on-brand voice across formats (captions, newsletters, scripts, marketing copy).
  • Hands-on experience managing brand social media accounts (Instagram and TikTok required).
  • Comfort with Canva and AI content tools for quick-turn asset creation.
  • Experience planning and executing email marketing campaigns (Mailchimp or equivalent).
  • Scrappy, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Access to a vehicle and willingness to travel to the greenhouse, events, retail locations, and content shoots as needed.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience in food, CPG, fresh produce, or sustainability-oriented brands.
  • Familiarity with influencer marketing platforms or PR outreach.
  • Basic graphic design skills (Adobe Creative Suite or similar).
  • Experience with social media analytics tools (Later, Sprout Social, native platform analytics).
  • Understanding of retail grocery or food service channels and how brand content supports in-store performance.
