Full job description

About Us

Life is complicated enough. At Akash Homes, we believe building a home shouldn’t be. We’ve grown fast by doing things differently - removing surprises, prioritizing quality, and delivering homes that feel as good as they look. We’re scaling quickly across Western Canada, and we need people who are ready to dig in and help shape what comes next.

If you haven’t heard of us: Akash Homes is a homebuilder headquartered in Edmonton, with active communities in Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg. We have an ambitious growth trajectory—and we’ve doubled year over year. We’re now one of the top 5 builders by permits in Edmonton and top 20 in Calgary. We’ve grown from a small (but mighty) team of 17 in 2023 to over 75 in 2025 (and counting). This kind of growth isn’t just about the numbers—it’s about the culture we’re building, the people we're investing in, and the momentum we’re proud to sustain.

The Role

We are seeking a Site Assistant to join our Construction team in Edmonton, Alberta.

The Opportunity

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands on, working outdoors, and learning the full lifecycle of residential construction. As a Site Assistant, you will work closely with the Site Superintendent to ensure homes are built safely, efficiently, and to Akash standards.

You will play a key role in keeping sites organized, supporting quality control, and helping ensure homes are ready for inspections and possession. This is a growth-oriented role with exposure to multiple stages of construction and the opportunity to build your skillset within a fast-moving environment.

One year at Akash Homes often feels like three years elsewhere. Our pace, growth, and expectations will challenge you to learn quickly and take ownership of your work.

Top 3 Priorities for Your First 6 Months

  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites that reflect Akash standards and support efficient workflows.
  • Support quality control efforts by assisting with site inspections, deficiency identification, and pre-possession preparation.
  • Build strong working relationships with Site Superintendents, trades, and internal team members to ensure timelines and expectations are met.

What
You’ll Own

  • Maintain clean and organized job sites, including waste removal, sweeping, vacuuming, and snow clearing as required.
  • Ensure safe and secure access to sites by building temporary walkways and maintaining clear pathways.
  • Support quality control by preparing homes for inspections and performing general labour tasks.
  • Assist with pre-occupancy walkthrough preparation to ensure homes are clean, complete, and client ready.
  • Complete light framing and finishing tasks such as installing handrails, garage landings, and other small construction elements.
  • Perform minor repairs including framing adjustments, drywall touch ups, painting, deck stair and railing installation, and replacing deck boards.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks.
  • Coordinate with Site Superintendents regarding material deliveries, timelines, and daily priorities.
  • Assist in motivating trade partners to maintain standards and meet deadlines.

What
You’ll Bring

  • Experience in general labour or residential construction is preferred.
  • Understanding of basic construction principles and job site safety practices.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills in a fast paced environment.
  • Proactive problem solving skills with a willingness to take initiative.
  • Comfort using hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Physical capability to lift materials and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Reliable transportation. A truck is preferred. A clean Driver’s Abstract is required.

We are less concerned about formal education and more interested in your work ethic, reliability, and ability to learn quickly in a hands on environment.

Compensation and Benefits

Some highlights of our total compensation at Akash Homes are:

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Extended health benefits including dental and vision
  • Matching RRSP program
  • Continuing education and training support

As Akash Homes continues to scale, we are committed to investing in a compensation and benefits package that supports our employees’ success and well being.

Thank you to all who apply. Only those considered for an interview will be contacted.
