Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled CNC Set-up Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing, setting up, and operating CNC machines such as CNC lathes and CNC milling machines to produce high-quality precision parts. This role requires a strong mechanical background, proficiency in CNC programming, and the ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring efficient production processes while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and calibrate CNC machines, including CNC lathe and CNC milling machines, using tools such as calipers, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Program CNC equipment utilizing Fanuc controls and CNC programming skills to produce parts according to specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and technical drawings to determine machining requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and adjustments on CNC machinery to ensure optimal operation.
  • Select appropriate tooling and fixtures for machining operations while adhering to lean manufacturing principles.
  • Conduct quality checks on machined parts using precision measurement tools like calipers and other inspection devices.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety protocols at all times.
  • Collaborate with team members in assembly, welding, or other manufacturing processes as needed.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives related to machining processes and workflow efficiency.

Experience

  • Proven experience operating CNC machines such as CNC lathes and CNC milling machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in machining processes, blueprint reading, and CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks.
  • Experience with CNC programming, particularly Fanuc controls, is highly preferred.
  • Basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations during setup and operation.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, safety procedures, and the use of hand tools, power tools, forklifts, welding equipment, and other manufacturing machinery is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in assembly or working with various manufacturing equipment will be considered a plus.
