Job Description:

  • Provides psychological treatment to individuals, families and/or couples with mental health problems by selecting from an array of treatment approaches that seems most suited to the client's needs, personality and level of functioning.
  • Provide formal and informal assessment of various mental health issues
  • Ability to provide comprehensive oral and/or written assessment of client functioning that may include specific information on any of the following areas; intellectual, neuropsychological, emotional, personality, psychopathology, interests and aptitudes
  • Conducting psychological assessments with adults for various goals, including treatment planning
  • Providing various evidence-based treatments such as cognitive-behavioral or other evidence-based treatment approaches
  • Produces and maintains confidential client clinical records in accordance with established standards and procedures; writes timely and accurate reports and case notes when required.
  • Develop, assist and participate in various workshops held at the office.
  • Participates in team meetings and brings innovate ideas to the practice.
  • Offers services in-person and virtually.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of assessment and diagnosis of mental illness and of professional practice guidelines for the treatment of various disorders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of developmental theories, family and social dynamics, treatment and behaviour management modalities and psychological testing and interpretation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability in implementing policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal effectively with others including the ability to work in a team and client-focused environment.
  • Demonstrated ability and skills to provide effective therapy to children, adolescent, and/or adults with various mental disorders.
  • Demonstrated work ethics, integrity, reliability, maturity, and flexibility.

Education and Experience:

A minimal Master's Degree in Psychology from a recognized university, plus five (5) years related experience in the provision of mental health services.

Current registration with the Health and Care Professional of BC (formerly College of Psychologists), and/or membership in the BC Psychological Association, or BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), or Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).

Knowledge of formal and informal assessment. Ability to use various assessment instruments.

Individual professional liability insurance required at time of employment.

Strong interpersonal and consultation skills

Clear, accurate communication via written reports

Pay: $2,000.00-$6,000.00 per month
