Building Science & Sustainability

Pinchin is hiring a Project Technologist in Building Science & Sustainability in Saskatoon. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will bring a strong foundational understanding of North American building systems, including architectural features such as structural components, building envelopes, mechanical and electrical systems, roofing, interior elements, and site features.

Your Role and Action

  • Conduct Building and Property Condition Assessments for due diligence and/or capital planning purposes in accordance with the ASTM standards construction practices at various client sites.
  • Review and complete assessments of existing buildings and structures (roof assemblies, exterior cladding assemblies, balcony assemblies, fenestrations, and parking garage structures) to determine design and remedial work options.
  • Prepare written reports of findings, summarizing, collating, and interpreting the results of field data.
  • Liaise with clients and contractors.
  • Maintain QA/QC protocols.
  • Maintain health and safety protocols. \
  • Perform any other job-related duties that may be assigned.

What You’ll Bring to Pinchin

  • Technically capable, curious, accountable, and collaborative, with a strong interest in growing a career in Building Science.
  • Diploma/degree in Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction, Architecture, Building Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with building construction, rehabilitation, or maintenance practices is preferred.
  • Experience conducting Baseline Property Condition Assessments in accordance with the ASTM2018-24 "Standard Guide for Property Condition Assessments" would be an asset
  • Sound knowledge of North American building envelope assemblies and building systems (including HVAC).
  • Strong written communication skills, including experience preparing clear technical reports; ability to perform fieldwork (including travel) with a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle (expenses reimbursed). Level I drone license and/or Level I thermography are considered assets.
