Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the President & CEO will provide strategic vision, operational leadership, and stewardship of a diverse and growing portfolio of companies and partnerships.

About NGC

NGC is an Inuit-owned and Inuit-led organization established to create wealth in trust for Nunatsiavut Beneficiaries through profitable, sustainable, and responsible business ventures. Operating under the authority of the Labrador Inuit Capital Strategy Trust (LICST), NGC manages investments and operations across marine services, aviation, logistics, construction, mining, development services, real estate, and other strategic sectors.

The Opportunity

The President & CEO is responsible for advancing NGC’s strategic priorities while ensuring strong operational performance, financial sustainability, and effective governance. As the organization’s chief executive and public representative, the successful candidate will strengthen relationships with Indigenous governments, industry leaders, regulatory agencies, community stakeholders, and business partners while identifying new opportunities for growth and diversification.

The Ideal Candidate

You are a strategic and relationship-driven executive with a proven record of leadership in complex organizations. You bring strong business and financial acumen, exceptional judgment, and the ability to inspire confidence among employees, partners, communities, and governing bodies. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and execute NGC’s long-term vision and business objectives.
  • Build and maintain a productive partnership with the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee all corporate operations, including finance, human resources, governance, health and safety, communications, and business performance.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing executive team.
  • Develop and evaluate new business opportunities, partnerships, and investments.
  • Strengthen relationships with Nunatsiavut communities, governments, and industry stakeholders.
  • Ensure sound financial management, risk oversight, and corporate accountability.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • University degree in business, commerce, public administration, law, engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive senior leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success in corporate strategy, financial management, and organizational leadership.
  • Experience working with Boards of Directors and governance structures.
  • Proven ability to develop strategic partnerships and identify growth opportunities.
  • Experience working with Indigenous governments, organizations, or communities is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of Nunatsiavut and Labrador communities is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience in sectors such as construction, transportation, fisheries, natural resources, or mining is an asset.

Skills and Attributes

  • A down-to-earth, optimistic leader with creativity, integrity, and curiosity.
  • An exceptional relationship-builder, capable of garnering long-term trust with partners.
  • Decisiveness combined with a facilitative style and the ability to effectively explain decisions.
  • A spirit of continuous improvement – striving to innovate and seeing possibilities where others see problems.
  • A high energy level and the capacity to balance multiple priorities.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first years of the mandate, the successful candidate will strengthen NGC’s financial performance, expand strategic partnerships, identify sustainable growth opportunities, and continue building an organizational culture grounded in accountability, innovation, and service to Nunatsiavut Beneficiaries.

Compensation

NGC offers a competitive executive compensation package commensurate with qualifications and experience, including a comprehensive benefits program and relocation assistance where applicable.
