Job Description

Title: Commercial Analyst

Location: Richmond (Office-Based)

Our North American operations serve upstream and downstream oil and gas markets with OCTG, transmission, tailings, and facility line pipes, along with low-alloy pipes and pipe derivative products such as frac sleeves, perforating guns, and setting tools. Beyond energy, our non-oil and gas divisions focus on galvanized products and OEM parts.

Role Objective:
The Commercial Analyst is responsible for maximizing the company’s quote winning rate. This is achieved by speeding up the quoting pipeline, encouraging Outside Sales to gather valuable market intelligence, piecing together that intelligence into actionable insights, and working directly with purchasers to craft competitive and relationship-driven solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main point of communication between Outside Sales, Technical Estimators, and, when needed, clients.
  • Encourage Outside Sales to actively collect pricing, competitor, and market intelligence.
  • Piece together market intel into clear strategies and actionable inputs for quotes.
  • Support the quoting process with commercial insights, win strategies, and relationship considerations.
  • Suggest creative, outside-the-box solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Assist Outside Sales in preparing for client visits, presentations, and negotiations.
  • Prepare client-facing commercial documentation, presentations, and proposals.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and how they impact business opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, or International Business.
  • Technical, software development, AI Background.
  • MBA or Master’s degree is an asset but not required.
  • 2–5 years in a commercial, business development, analyst, or client-facing role.
  • Background in industrial products, energy, construction materials, or manufacturing sectors is an asset.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand cultural and relationship dynamics.
  • Ability to analyze market data, identify trends, and advise on pricing strategies.
  • Comfortable working with both technical teams and client-facing staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Additional language ability (e.g., Mandarin) is considered an asset for supporting global communication.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: CA$65,000 – CA$90,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Final salary is confirmed following successful completion of the probationary period.
  • Benefits: Full company benefits effective from the start of employment.
