About the Role

As the Operations Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the cafe while leading and inspiring a high performing team. You will be responsible for driving sales growth, controlling costs, maintaining exceptional customer service standards, and ensuring the cafe operates efficiently every day.

This is a leadership position that requires someone who thrives in a fast paced environment and leads by example. You will report directly to the owner of the company.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of cafe management, sales strategies, and team development. This role involves managing staff, optimizing store performance, and implementing effective marketing and merchandising initiatives to drive growth and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of baristas and supervisors.
  • Foster a positive, high-performance workplace culture.
  • Ensure an outstanding customer experience with every visit.
  • Drive sales growth through operational excellence and local business initiatives.
  • Monitor and control labour, food, and beverage costs to maximize profitability.
  • Maintain inventory, ordering, and cost controls.
  • Payroll hour audit and processing
  • Recruit, train, and onboard new team members.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, health, and company standards.
  • Work alongside the team during busy periods and support cafe operations as needed.
  • Analyze business performance and implement strategies to improve results.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Previous barista experience in a high-volume cafe.
  • Proven leadership or management experience in the hospitality or food service industry.
  • Business Management Diploma or equivalent education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of cafe operations, scheduling, inventory management, and cost control.
  • Excellent communication and team-building skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining high service standards.
