The Toronto office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG), Canada’s leading, innovative and client-focused law firm, is seeking an:

Associate – Disputes

We are looking for

The ideal candidate will have 1 – 4 years experience and be in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. Candidates with experience in commercial disputes, including but not limited to contractual disputes, commercial arbitration, banking litigation, shareholder disputes, proceedings for injunctive relief, competition litigation, and real estate disputes, are encouraged to apply.

Candidates should have strong advocacy, legal research and drafting skills along with excellent judgment, strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

The successful candidate can expect to develop well-rounded advocacy skills in commercial disputes, including:

  • Assisting with complex trials and arbitrations.
  • Arguing motions and applications, and attending other court hearings such as pre-trial and case conferences.
  • Conducting examinations for discovery and witness preparation.
  • Drafting pleadings, motions, facta, affidavits and other court materials.
  • Conducting legal research and prepare legal opinions.
  • Advising clients on disputes risk, strategy and dispute resolution options.

The expected salary range for this position is $135,000 - $200,000, depending on level of experience, region/location, and other factors.
