Who we are:
At the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Culture, our mandate is to build a sustainable, competitive, and diverse Yukon economy that enriches the quality of life for all Yukoners. Guided by a shared vision of prosperity, partnerships, and innovation, we advance economic development, support the growth of tourism, and celebrate and promote Yukon’s rich cultural identity. We work collaboratively—including with First Nations —to foster opportunities that benefit communities across the territory and to preserve Yukon’s history and heritage for generations to come.
We support businesses, industries, cultural organizations, and communities by helping them see the big picture, envision Yukon’s future, and find clear paths forward. From advising entrepreneurs and growing key sectors, to promoting Yukon as a world-class travel destination and supporting arts, heritage, and cultural initiatives, we connect people with the resources they need to succeed. This includes helping employers attract and retain the workers they need, strengthening the workforce, and ensuring Yukon’s economy continues to grow and thrive.
About the role:
The Manager, Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre (YBIC), provides strategic leadership and oversees the daily operations of the interpretive and community facility. The centre features the Beringian landscape, animals and human history through exhibits, interactive programming, and public engagement.
This position is responsible for all aspects of YBIC operations, including facility management, security and grounds, capital and maintenance projects, exhibits, collections, outreach activities, special events, rentals, and in-person and online public and educational programming.
The Manager leads a small team, primarily seasonal and part-time staff, providing leadership and innovation for effective delivery of programs, services, and visitor experiences. The role supports capacity-building across Yukon’s heritage sector by coordinating mentorship and training opportunities with post-secondary institutions, Yukon museums, and Yukon First Nations.
