We believe in taking education outside, weaving Earth Science and Art into every trail lesson to ensure children stay curious and connected to the living earth.

The Role: We are seeking a passionate and energetic Outdoor Instructor to lead our weekly outdoor sessions. If you love the wilderness, have a heart for children, and want to use the outdoors to build resilience and character, this is the role for you. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise groups of children in 4hour outdoor sessions, rain or shine.
  • Facilitate hands-on learning in Nature Study, observing the details of creation to foster a deep sense of wonder and stewardship.
  • Teach foundational Wilderness Skills, including practical navigation and outdoor safety, to build confidence and grit.
  • Guide Character Building activities, encouraging honesty, collaborative problem-solving, and Christ-like leadership during forest challenges.
  • Maintain a highly safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment for all students.
  • Model Christian values and faith authentically in everyday interactions with students and parents.

Requirements:

  • Faith & Character: Must be an active Christian who is comfortable and confident acting as a role model for young children.
  • Passion for the Outdoors: A genuine love for nature, wilderness exploration, and being outside in various weather conditions.
  • Experience with Children: Proven experience working with children (e.g., coaching, teaching, youth group leading, camp counseling, or outdoor education).
  • Reliability: Punctual and committed to the scheduled program hours.
  • Safety Mindset: Ability to manage risk in an outdoor setting (First Aid/CPR certification is a strong asset or required upon hire).

Why Join Solid Rock?

  • Make a meaningful, eternal impact on children's lives through faith and nature.
  • Spend your working hours outdoors in beautiful local parks.
  • Join a supportive, purpose-driven community that values family and connection.

To Apply: Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter (or a short message) sharing your experience working with children, your comfort level in the outdoors, and how your faith equips you to be a role model for our students.
