Position: Child and Family Support Worker

Hours: Flexible – days, evenings, weekends, Full-time and Part-time

Job Description: Monuwehkahal Homes operates homes for children, youth and adults in need of alternative housing solutions. We’re looking for employees who demonstrate: kindness, patience, compassion, professionalism, proactiveness, and caring.

This position provides full medical, dental, and pension benefits after a period of probation – but also the resources and training necessary for the role.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care and supervision of the children, youth or adults within the home, based on care plans
  • Teach and assist individuals with activities such as hygiene, basic cooking money management, shopping, safety skills and other basic life skills
  • Ensure that a supportive environment within the home is always maintained, through actively listening, taking part in their interests, participating in activities, and generally helping them reach their full potential
  • Consistently demonstrating compassion, kindness, patience, and professionalism, along with utilizing positive reinforcement to build up each client’s confidence in themselves and their abilities
  • Maintain an orderly home through participating in regular cleaning, food preparation, laundry, and other household-related activities as needed
  • Facilitate physical, recreational, educational, social, and vocational activities
  • Accompany individuals to activities and appointments as required
  • Fill out daily logs/paperwork and report to supervisors and team leads
  • Support clients in becoming self-sufficient and independent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and/or Education in Social Services, Home Care, Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or similar would be an asset
  • Preferred minimum of one year of work experience in a similar role with a focus on child or youth care
  • Experience completing reporting documentation (i.e., incident reports, intake forms, daily status reports, etc.), preferred but not mandatory
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check
  • Valid driver’s license and driver’s license abstract (preferred but not mandatory)
