Culture Worker – Fort St. James/Tache, British Columbia

Permanent Full-Time (35hrs – 5 days/wk.)

Nezul Be Hunuyeh is an Indigenous Child & Family Service Agency serving the communities of Nak’azdli Whut’en, Binche Whut’en, and Tl’azt’en Nation. Under the supervision of the Cultural Supervisor, the Culture Worker will play a pivotal role in providing support and sharing Dakelh Culture, traditional practices, and language to the children, youth, and families that NBHCFSS serves. The Culture Worker will be instrumental in working with youth and families to develop life skills and enhance social-emotional well-being. Your dedication to this role will contribute significantly by providing one-on-one cultural outreach and group programming opportunities to children, youth, and families. Type: Permanent Full-Time (35hrs/wk.)

Wage Grid: $29.21 - $33.54 hourly with Competitive Benefits and Pension

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support and advocacy
  • Plan and assist with cultural activities, workshops, and community events
  • Work with families, Elders, and community partners to deliver programs
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with the families and communities we serve
  • Help with transportation and day-to-day program coordination
  • Keep accurate records and reports in line with agency standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Dakelh culture, history, and traditions – Indigenous ancestry is a strong asset
  • Warm, relationship-focused communicator – comfortable working one-on-one and in groups
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Proficient in the use of computers (email, word processing)
  • Indigenous ancestry is an asset
