Full job description
Technical Writer– our client requires a technical writer to create professional technical project documentation, including the development of project documents incorporating business and technical information provided by subject matter experts. Deliverables include project documents and professional technical documentation (technical and business requirements, requirements traceability, mapping business needs).
Work is onsite at client location in Toronto, ON.
Duties Include:
- Translate complex technical requirements into clear, structured, and professionally written project documents
- Collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather domain knowledge and technical content
- Synthesize SME input into comprehensive, project documentation
- Ensure documentation accurately reflects business needs and evaluation criteria
- Drive accuracy, completeness, and quality of project documents
- Ensure timely and efficient completion of project documentation
- Contribute to advancing organizational digital transformation objectives
Mandatory Requirements Include:
- Public Sector experience, preferably in public healthcare environments
- A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in development of high-quality technical project documents.
- Demonstrated ability to capture complex technical input from architects and developers and translate it into clear, structured, and user-friendly documentation for a technical audience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and stakeholders.
Required Skills:
- Proven technical writing capability, particularly for structured, formal documents
- Strong ability to interpret and translate complex technical requirements into clear written content
- Experience working with SMEs to extract and validate technical information
- Analytical skills to synthesize inputs into accurate, cohesive deliverables
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables and meet deadlines
- Experience with a wide range of technical writing methods, tools and techniques and knowledge of industry standards and best practices
- Proficiency with standard documentation and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, SharePoint)
- Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards
Desirable Requirements Include:
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, structured, business-friendly language
- Experience collaborating with SMEs and cross-functional teams
- Excellent synthesis and analytical skills to consolidate diverse inputs into cohesive documentation
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices relevant to technology and procurement
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and completeness
- Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple deliverables
- Ability to align documentation with business requirements and evaluation criteria
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify gaps or inconsistencies in requirements
- Ability to produce high-quality deliverables under tight timelines
- Proficiency with documentation tools (e.g., MS Word, SharePoint, collaboration platforms)
