Full job description

Position Title: Shop Attendant

Pay Type: Hourly

Typical Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 hour days

Pay Structure:

Monday to Friday – First 8 hours are regular time

Monday to Friday – Next 4 hours are 1.5x

Monday to Friday – Remaining hours are 2x

Saturday and Sunday (if required) – All 2x

Statuary Holidays - All 3x

About the Role:
We are currently looking to hire a dependable, hardworking Shop Attendant to support the daily operations of our shop and yard while ensuring our equipment, vehicles, and facilities remain organized, clean, and ready to support our field operations.

The Shop Attendant plays a key role in maintaining the efficiency and organization of our shop. This position is responsible for vehicle and equipment upkeep, shop housekeeping, inventory support, material handling, and assisting multiple departments with day-to-day operational needs. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, adaptable, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where every day brings something different.

Key Responsibilities:

Fleet & Vehicle Support

  • Perform truck and trailer tool inventories
  • Wash, clean, and detail company trucks and trailers
  • Complete monthly vehicle inspections and report deficiencies
  • Safely operate company vehicles, including pickup trucks, 1-ton trucks, and service trucks
  • Assist with truck and trailer mobilization and demobilization (Load, secure, and prepare equipment and materials for transport)

Shop & Yard Maintenance

  • Sweep floors and operate the floor cleaning machine
  • Organize and store tools and equipment
  • Clean and organize the yard, lock-up areas, and sea-can storage containers
  • Organize and maintain company coveralls
  • Assist machinists with cleaning machines and removing metal chips.

Material Handling & Equipment Operation

  • Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes
  • Wrap, package, and secure materials on pallets
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment
  • Operate hand and power tools safely, including table and miter saws for basic woodworking and shop projects

Operational Support

  • Provide occasional backup support for Shipping & Receiving
  • Complete assigned corrective actions and routine shop tasks.
  • Assist the Fleet Manager, Millwrights, Machinists, and Office staff with a variety of daily operational needs
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support shop operations

Qualifications:

  • Clean driver’s abstract with a minimum of 3 years personal insurance history
  • Previous related experience (in a shop, warehouse, industrial, or construction setting)
  • Forklift and/or overhead crane experience considered an asset
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Mechanical aptitude is considered an asset
