Full job description

Wealth Advisor

Position Type: Permanent/Full-time

Location: GTA, ON (1-2 days a week on-site)

Compensation: $65,000+/Annually + Commission + Bonus + Vacation + Benefits + Pension

Note on Commission: While typical annual commission earnings generally range from $35,000 to $80,000, compensation is uncapped and performance-driven. There is no minimum or maximum limit, and actual earnings may fall outside of this target range based entirely on individual performance.

We are partnering with a leading Credit Union to source a dynamic Wealth Advisor. Reporting to the VP of Wealth Management, you will deliver tailored investment, retirement, and financial planning advice to high-value clients. You will drive asset growth, manage ongoing portfolio reviews, and assist members with strategic retirement and estate planning. Success in this role relies on a highly collaborative approach, working hand-in-hand with the retail branch network to deliver seamless, comprehensive service across the member base.

Key Responsibilities

Client Relationship Management & Advisory

  • Build a portfolio of high-value wealth clients across the territory, driving annual net sales targets through multi-channel prospecting and referrals.
  • Proactively connect with existing clients to deliver specialized investment, retirement, and financial planning advice.
  • Complete comprehensive portfolio reviews and utilize financial planning and life insurance needs-analysis tools to deliver tailored recommendations.
  • Drive asset consolidation by capturing client portfolios currently managed at outside financial institutions.
  • Coordinate cross-functional support by referring clients to specialized insurance, trust, and estate planning partners when necessary.

Branch Collaboration & Business Development

  • Visit assigned locations regularly to cultivate strong, collaborative working relationships with branch staff and generate high-quality referrals.
  • Draw upon external networks, client referrals, and centers of influence to consistently attract new wealth clients.
  • Partner with Credit Union branch colleagues to identify and develop opportunities for retail banking products and services.

Training & Thought Leadership

  • Serve as an integral member of the branch sales team, leading regular information sessions and seminars for individuals and groups.
  • Empower branch colleagues by building their investment product knowledge and advisory capabilities, supporting the achievement of local client acquisition targets.
  • Maintain a deep, up-to-date mastery of specific financial products and investment vehicles to support strategic portfolio development.

Required Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful experience within Financial Planning and Investment Sales.
  • Current registration as an Investment Representative.
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Conduct & Practices Handbook (CPH), and Wealth Management Essentials (WME).
  • Deep, expert knowledge of the investment industry, market products, and standard financial planning principles.
  • Adaptability to pursue further advanced certifications (e.g., CIM, CFA) as the wealth management product line expands.

Preferred Assets:

  • Active holding of, or progress toward, the Personal Financial Planner (PFP) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
  • Practical experience managing investment portfolios valued over $100,000.
  • Background in analyzing, researching, and selecting individual publicly listed equities/securities for portfolio inclusion.
  • Hand-on experience integrating fee-based and Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) solutions into client wealth strategies.

The indicated pay range is a good‑faith estimate based on required qualifications, experience, training, and other factors permitted by law. It reflects the pay band established by the client company. Actual offers may vary depending on skills, experience, geographic location, and expected work quality. Most candidates start in the lower half of the range. Pay history is not considered where prohibited by law. This information serves as a general guideline for compensation discussions.

To support a fair and efficient hiring process, we may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to help review applications. Our team carefully reviews all candidates, and AI is used only as a support tool—never as the sole decision-maker.
