Union Representative

Position Type: Full-time, permanent

Compensation: CAD 89,000

A leading union organization is seeking experienced Union Representatives to join its Richmond Hill office. In this full-time role, you will serve as the primary advocate for members, administering collective agreements, handling grievances, resolving workplace issues, leading collective bargaining, and representing members in labor relations matters. You will also facilitate meetings, build strong relationships with employers and stakeholders, and ensure compliance with relevant labor legislation.

The successful candidate will play a key role in member engagement by identifying, coaching, and supporting workplace leaders and stewards, encouraging member participation in workplace campaigns and initiatives, and helping to strengthen the organization’s broader advocacy and social justice objectives. This position requires strong communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills, along with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates should have:

• Minimum of three years of labour relations experience, preferably in a unionized environment, with demonstrated experience negotiating collective agreements and managing grievances through arbitration.
• Knowledge of Ontario labour and employment legislation is required, while healthcare sector experience, proficiency in additional languages
• A valid driver's license and willingness to travel, including occasional evenings and weekends, are required.

The indicated pay range for this position is a good-faith estimate based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Additionally, it is emphasized that the pay band mentioned herein is the one established by the client company. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate’s skills, experience and geographic location, the expected quality and quantity of work. Most candidates will start at the bottom half of the pay range, with the upper end reserved for candidates with extensive experience and skills and who live in geographic markets commanding a higher starting pay. An employee’s pay history will not be a contributing factor where prohibited by local law.
