Aurora Environmental Services Ltd. (Aurora) is a people-driven environmental consulting firm that delivers safe, practical, and client-focused solutions. Our team includes Professional Agrologists, Foresters, Biologists, Qualified Wetland Science Practitioners (QWSP, QAES), Wildlife Biologists, GIS and Remote Sensing Specialists. Working collaboratively across disciplines, we deliver high-quality, end-to-end environmental services with a strong focus on safety, accountability, and results.
The Opportunity
This is a permanent, full-time position based out of our Edmonton office, with project assignments located primarily in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Working under management supervision, the successful candidate will be a proactive team player who plays a key role in executing fieldwork and delivering comprehensive reports for Watercourse, Wetland, and Wildlife projects, supporting dynamic initiatives across the oil and gas, municipal, infrastructure, and natural resource sectors throughout Western Canada.

Responsibilities
- Conduct wildlife, wetland, and aquatic field assessments in a safe, efficient, and professional manner
- Coordinate with on-site client representatives
- Analyze field data to develop practical management and mitigation recommendations
- Prepare clear, concise technical reports and project documentation for clients
- Support the preparation of regulatory applications and assist with communication between clients and regulators, as needed
- Work independently, including outside regular office hours, to meet project timelines and client needs
- Assist with additional responsibilities as required to support overall team and project success
Qualifications & Experience:
Education & Designations
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Land Reclamation, Forestry, or a related field from a recognized university or college
- Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Biologist or Agrologist (or associated technologist) in Alberta and/or Saskatchewan (preferred)
Experience
- Experience with AER OneStop, Land Use, and Water Act applications considered an asset
- Minimum of three (3) years of related experience for Intermediate-level applicants
- Strong field identification and assessment skills, with a desire to continue learning and developing professionally
- Proficient GIS skills, including experience with ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, and/or QGIS, as well as related data collection software
- Solid understanding of industry practices and regulatory requirements
- Consulting experience considered an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing initiatives

- Physically capable of performing required manual labour duties
Additional Requirements
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and current driver’s abstract
- Willingness to travel and work in a field setting as required
- Demonstrated understanding of safety requirements and experience working around field and heavy equipment
- CSA-approved steel-toed safety boots are required for this role
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship (verification may be required).
This role involves field-based work in varying weather conditions; candidates must be physically fit and able to meet position-related requirements, including medical and drug and alcohol testing, if applicable.
