Full job description

Job Posting: Plow Truck Driver (Salter)

About the role

Summit Property Group is hiring a Plow Truck Driver for the [2026–2027] winter season. You'll operate a plow truck with a salter/spreader to clear and treat commercial parking lots across Simcoe Muskoka on an assigned route.

This is an on-call, weather-driven role: when snow or freezing rain hits, you roll out — often overnight, early mornings, weekends and holidays. Experience on a skid steer or loader is a strong asset.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate a 1-ton plow truck (straight blade or V-plow) to clear commercial parking lots, entrances, drive aisles and loading areas on an assigned route
  • Run the salter/spreader to apply salt, sand or brine at the right rate for conditions, without over- or under-applying
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and report defects before heading out
  • Keep accurate logs of service times, material used and site conditions, on paper or by app/GPS
  • Watch for hazards such as curbs, islands, parked cars, pedestrians and drainage, and note any property damage right away
  • Return for re-plowing and re-salting as storms continue, and do clean-up passes after the storm ends
  • Load salt, check hydraulics, and keep the truck, blade and spreader clean and in working order
  • Communicate with the dispatcher or supervisor about route progress, delays and equipment issues

Requirements

  • Valid Ontario Class G licence (full G, not G1 or G2)
  • Clean driver's abstract, provided with your application
  • At least [1–2] winter seasons of plow truck experience, including operating a salter/spreader
  • Available on-call 24/7 through the season, including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Able to work long shifts (often 12+ hours during storms) in cold, low-visibility conditions
  • Comfortable doing basic truck and equipment checks: fluids, hydraulics, lights, blade and spreader
  • Reliable transportation to the yard, often on short notice
  • Able to lift up to 50 lb and climb in and out of equipment repeatedly
  • Good knowledge of Simcoe Muskoka roads, or willingness to learn routes before the season

Assets (bonus skills)

These aren't required, but candidates with them will be prioritized.

  • Skid steer experience with a bucket, pusher box or snow blower attachment, for tight areas, sidewalks, entrances and stacking snow
  • Wheel loader experience for large lots, snow pushing, stacking and piling, and loading trucks for snow haul-away
  • Experience with GPS or route-tracking apps for logging services
  • Valid WHMIS training and/or a Working at Heights or equipment operator certificate
  • Basic mechanical skills for minor repairs in the field

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Work Location: On the road
