IT International Telecom Inc. (“IT”) is a privately owned subsea network integrator that designs, installs, and maintains subsea telecommunications cable systems. IT is an ISO-certified company, with locations in Barbados, Montreal, Halifax and marine operations on the east and west coast of North America. IT is led by an entrepreneurial management team and is recognized as a leader in its field and uses modern and advanced information systems.

Reporting to the Survey Manager, IT is seeking to fill the position of full-time permanent Online Surveyor. The position requires offshore international travel and provides an excellent working environment, opportunity for growth and learning, a complete benefits package as well as an attractive compensation package.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Verify and assist with all necessary project documentation from various departments required to plan assigned survey activities;
  • Responsible for creating line plans for upcoming projects;
  • Responsible for instructing the vessel during operations marine route surveys, cable repairs and installations;
  • Responsible for data acquisition during marine route surveys and installations;
  • Responsible for completing accurate installation, setup and maintenance of survey related equipment and subsystems onboard the vessel. Individual would be required to be able to work independently during mobilizations as well as lead others and would be the primary support for the Party Chief;
  • Record events required to prepare reports, charts and as-laid RPLs;
  • Process all navigation and cable data to be used for deliverables and ensure field QA/QC of data prior to submission;
  • Knowledge of common survey software such as Qinsy, 4DNav, Caris, Sonarwiz, Discovey, Global Mapper and AutoCAD would be an asset.

Required Competencies:

  • University degree preferably in Marine Geomatics / Survey Engineering or related degree;
  • Recent work history must include a minimum of 4 years of related offshore hydrographic/construction survey experience;
  • Ability to draft, read, comprehend and interpret technical specifications;
  • Ability to draft clear, complete and concise reporting documents;
  • Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal;
  • Strong organizational, time-management and analytical skills;
  • MS Office experience required;
  • Valid offshore training and Canadian Seafarers Book
  • International travel required;
  • Valid Canadian Passport;
  • Valid Drivers License;
