WORLD-CLASS DESIGN. MODERN MANUFACTURING.

Welder Lead

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan | Monday–Friday · 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM | $32.00–$40.00/hour (based on experience and skill level)

Why this isn't your average welding job

At RMD, our purpose is simple: drive change to make the world better.

The parts you weld here don't end up on shelves. They go into systems that don't exist yet—new technology, new tools, and new impact in the One Health space, where environmental, human, and animal innovation intersect. RMD builds what isn't there. That means your work matters from day one.

We're a Saskatchewan-owned, fully integrated engineering and manufacturing company serving industrial automation, advanced manufacturing, research, and resource development sectors. Our Saskatoon facility houses high-end CNC technology entering commercialization after years of R&D. We're not just making parts; we're scaling innovation.

Where we're headed

RMD is transitioning from a traditional job shop toward structured, production-focused manufacturing. That means:

  • Stronger process discipline and greater efficiency.
  • Investment in advanced CNC equipment.
  • Integration of robotic welding technology.

We're actively investing in these changes and building a culture of accountability and clear roles. This isn't a company standing still—the right person grows with it.

What you'll own

  • Ownership — Work independently from drawings and specs, taking your weldments from fit-up to final inspection.
  • Precision — Fit and prepare components accurately, with proper joint prep and alignment every time.
  • Versatility — Apply multiple processes (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW) depending on what the job demands.
  • Robotic Integration — Contribute to the implementation and evolution of robotic welding capabilities. Operate and support our robotic welding cells by loading fixtures, monitoring parameters, and ensuring quality consistency.
  • Fixturing — Increase the use of repeatable fixtures, jigs, and standardized set-ups to improve throughput and accuracy.
  • Quality — Produce code-compliant welds to CWB W47.1 & W47.2 standards and conduct your own visual inspections.

Who we’re looking for

  • The Go-Getter Mindset: You don't wait for instructions; you see what needs to be done and you do it. You’re willing to get your hands dirty, and no task is beneath you.
  • A Problem-Solving Architect: You have a natural technical aptitude. You aren't just welding—you’re constantly asking, "How can we improve this? How can we engineer this to be better?"
  • The Right Intuition: While formal engineering experience is a bonus, the engineering mindset is non-negotiable. You look at a process and see the potential for optimization.

You'll thrive here if you

  • Are comfortable with robotics: You have experience or a strong aptitude for operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting automated welding systems.
  • Take ownership: You care about the quality of your output and hold yourself to high standards.
  • Are adaptable: You thrive as equipment, processes, and management practices evolve.
  • Value systems: You appreciate the structure, accountability, and continuous improvement inherent in a professional shop.

Cross-skilled candidates with fabrication experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Our Values (RUTID)

  • Respect — We treat people right
  • Unity — We win as a team
  • Trust — We do what we say
  • Integrity — We do the right thing
  • Drive — We push forward

Safety is our #1 priority

Proper training before every task. Full PPE access. The unconditional right to refuse unsafe work. Everyone goes home safe — that's non-negotiable at RMD.

Help us build what isn't there.

If you're a skilled welder who is comfortable working with robotic systems—or a cross-trained tradesperson ready to grow alongside a company modernizing fast—we want to hear from you. Apply today.
