Job Overview:

MacDougall Steel Erectors Inc. is seeking experienced Structural Steel Welder/Fitters to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fabricating, assembling, and welding structural steel components while ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and engineering drawings.
  • Fabricate and assemble structural steel components according to specifications.
  • Perform various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
  • Utilize cutting tools such as torches, plasma cutters, and grinders.
  • Operate hoists, cranes, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Inspect welds to ensure structural soundness and compliance with industry standards.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in proper working order.
  • Follow all safety protocols and company policies to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to meet production deadlines.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in structural steel welding and fitting.
  • CWB certification (FCAW/MCAW, SMAW) would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and shop drawings.
  • Experience with layout, fitting, and fabrication of steel structures.
  • Strong knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and best practices.
  • Ability to operate fabrication machinery, power tools, and welding equipment.
  • Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
