Full job description
GHL looking for a part time Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our Andrology Laboratory in the Mississauga, Ontario. Person in this position will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests, ensuring that all instruments used are calibrated on a regular basis and following standard operating procedures. Medical Technologists must have one year of experience in semen analysis.
Technologist reports directly to the Laboratory Director and this individual will be responsible for:
- Following the Laboratory procedure and making sure to accept the specimens according to established procedures.
- Correct labelling of specimen containers, physician requisitions and appropriate specimen procurement and transportation
- Accessioning specimens in designated Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Conducting routine laboratory procedures including, semen analysis and anti-sperm antibody assessment and flow cytometry
- Interpretation and reporting of motility, vitality morphology of sperms on SCA/ CASA
- Maintaining and keeping the records of QCs on daily basis
- According to Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) maintain the privacy of the patients.
- Responsible for following the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain all required laboratory documentations.
Educational Qualifications:
- Graduate of a recognized program for Medical Laboratory Technology / Science
- Must be registered and a member in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
- ASCP preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and soft skills, proficient with database applications and administrative system.
- Work independently, attention to detail and should have good analytical skills.
