Location:
  • Boardwalk Retirement Community (NW Calgary)
Responsibilities:
  • Provide a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for our Residents
  • Present the menu, take written orders and communicate special requests to the culinary team
  • Serve meals and beverages to Residents in a courteous and professional manner to their satisfaction and comfort
  • Set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required
  • Assist with cleaning of dishware and cutlery as required
  • Assist with catering, and actively participate in special occasions and theme events
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new culinary employees
  • Assist the culinary team in preparing, portioning, and serving simple items (i.e., beverages, soups, salads, desserts)
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas including deep cleaning when required
  • Assist with housekeeping including light dusting, vacuuming, mopping, changing linens and making beds as needed
  • Follow and comply with health and safety legislation and departmental procedures
  • Comply with all provincial regulations and established department policies and procedures
  • Be aware of the Resident Rights & Responsibilities and endeavor to respect and promote it
  • Attend in-service training as required in to better serve the needs of the Residents
  • Attend staff meetings as required to be aware of changes in the workplace
  • Uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, and integrity as set out in the Company’s Code of Conduct and Handbook
  • Complete all other tasks as assigned
Experience and Educational Requirements:
  • 2 years of serving experience
  • Preference will be given to individuals who have previous experience in the food service industry and working with seniors
  • High School Diploma
  • Certification of mandatory training in public health and sanitation (Food Handling Permit)
Technical Requirements:
  • Operating in an efficient manner while maintaining safety practices
  • Working knowledge of English both verbal and written
Non-Technical Requirements:
  • Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for majority of shift
  • Must be comfortable using PPE around commercial grade chemicals and sanitization products
  • Availability to work various shifts (evenings, weekends, and holidays)
