The AQ Group of Companies is made up of two distinct but closely connected entities: Aquatech Dewatering Company and Aquosis Fluid Solutions. Each plays a unique role in how we deliver fluid management services across Canada.

Aquatech Dewatering is our contract services arm. They’re the team that gets hands-on with projects providing everything from engineering and planning to on-site installation, operations, and even 24/7 emergency response. Aquatech works with a wide range of clients, including contractors, municipalities, consultants, and industrial operators. With a large fleet of portable equipment and a skilled team of technicians, they’re known for being reliable and responsive in the field.

Aquosis Fluid Solutions, focuses on rentals, sales, and service. They design and build custom pumping, dewatering, and water treatment technologies, and maintain a deep inventory to ensure clients have quick access to the equipment they need. Aquosis also offers tailored rental and sales programs, making it easier for clients to get turnkey solutions that fit their specific project requirements.

Reporting to the Senior Water Treatment Engineer, we are seeking a Water Treatment Engineerto join our team. This role involves conducting lab and field-scale testing, engineering design, system commissioning, conducting pilot-scale studies, proposal development. and process optimization of water treatment system for various applications in construction, mining, and industrial sectors. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in water treatment processes, water chemistry, research and development. This role requires strong knowledge in water chemistry, engineering design, and practical & field experience in water treatment technologies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute laboratory-scale experiments to evaluate water treatment processes
  • Perform field-scale testing and on-site evaluations of treatment systems in construction, mining, and industrial settings
  • Provide field operation support on water treatment processes, PIDs, instrumentation setup, and electrical drawings
  • Prepare detailed technical drawings, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and engineering reports
  • Support proposal development, including system descriptions, technical specifications, and cost estimates
  • Collaborate with project management teams to ensure successful commissioning of water treatment systems
  • Analyze operational data and recommend adjustments to chemical dosing, process parameters, and equipment operation
  • Provide on-site support for water treatment systems start-up, commissioning, trouble shooting and performance optimization
  • Support the Aquatech’s research and development activities for novel water treatment technologies and materials
  • Test new chemical formulations and treatment techniques to enhance process efficiency and cost effectiveness
  • Work closely with project managers, estimators, engineers, and field staff to ensure cohesive project execution
  • Promote and act in compliance with Aquatech’s Health and Safety and Environmental Management
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment during lab and field activities

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree in engineering is an asset.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineer-In-Training license or Eligible to become P.Eng.
  • 3-5 years of experience in water treatment, field commissioning of water treatment systems. and specific experience in municipal, mining or construction sector is required.
  • Strong background in water chemistry and water treatment processes is required
  • Laboratory research and development experience is considered as an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, especially strong skills with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills in technical writing, public speaking, email correspondence, and presentation preparation.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Field experience in pilot-scale studies, and full-scale plant commissioning is required.
  • Strong self-learning ability and take responsibility for your personal development, identify training needs, and request appropriate training as required.

$85,000 – $95,000
