We're looking for a Sterile Processing Technician (Medical Device Reprocessing Technician) to join our Burnaby clinic on a permanent full-time basis. In this role, you'll play an essential part in supporting our surgical program by ensuring the safe reprocessing of medical devices, maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment, and managing the inventory and ordering of Operating Room supplies so our clinical teams have the resources they need to deliver exceptional patient care.

This position offers a consistent Saturday through Wednesday schedule, providing the work-life balance of having Thursdays and Fridays off every week while becoming part of a collaborative, supportive healthcare team.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Sterile Processing Technician, you'll play a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, infection prevention, and operational readiness.

Medical Device Reprocessing

  • Clean, inspect, disinfect, assemble, package, sterilize, and store reusable medical devices and surgical instruments in accordance with CSA standards, manufacturer instructions, infection prevention and control practices, and clinic policies.
  • Assemble, wrap, sterilize, label, and distribute instrument trays while maintaining sterility throughout the reprocessing cycle.
  • Operate and monitor sterilization equipment and complete all required quality assurance testing and documentation.
  • Monitor sterilization records and maintain accurate documentation to support quality assurance and accreditation requirements.
  • Inspect instruments and equipment for cleanliness, function, and integrity, identifying items requiring repair or replacement.
  • Rotate sterile supplies and ensure all products are appropriately labelled and stored.

Operating Room Inventory & Supply Management

  • Order, receive, organize, and maintain inventory of Operating Room, sterile processing, and medical supplies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and proactively replenish stock to ensure uninterrupted patient care and clinic operations.
  • Coordinate with approved vendors and internal team members to ensure supplies are received accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain organized storage areas and ensure supplies are rotated and managed in accordance with best practices.

Environmental & Clinic Support

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment, including procedure rooms, recovery areas, storage rooms, workstations, and common areas.
  • Clean floors, fixtures, furniture, equipment, and clinical spaces in accordance with infection prevention standards.
  • Replenish clinical, housekeeping, and patient care supplies throughout the clinic.
  • Complete daily floor care, carpet maintenance, and waste disposal activities.
  • Support clinic readiness by ensuring treatment and procedure areas are fully prepared for each day's patient schedule.

Quality, Safety & Teamwork

  • Adhere to all infection prevention and control standards, occupational health and safety requirements, and applicable College of Physicians and Surgeons standards.
  • Contribute to maintaining accreditation standards and organizational quality initiatives.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, embryologists, and other interdisciplinary team members.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail in all aspects of the role.
  • Support a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and exceptional patient care.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who is dependable, highly organized, and committed to excellence. You take pride in your work, understand the importance of infection prevention, and recognize the critical role sterile processing plays in ensuring outstanding patient care.

Qualifications include:

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a recognized Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) certificate program.
  • One to two years of experience as a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician, Sterile Processing Technician, or in a related role.
  • Experience working in a surgical, operating room, ambulatory care, or other healthcare environment is considered an asset.

  • Strong understanding of sterilization processes, infection prevention principles, and quality assurance practices.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
