Position: Production Operator

Our production facilities and head office in Canborough, Ontario, are the central point of our all-encompassing business model. Our mill staff are dedicated to safely producing quality feeds for every livestock and backyard species. Our fleet of trucks and tireless drivers deliver Minor Bros. feeds all across Southern Ontario.

We take raw feed ingredients and deliver quality finished feeds to the animals you care for. Along every step of the way, our experienced sales and nutrition staff are here to provide the knowledge and expertise you want

The position of Production Operator is focused on maximizing mill equipment and systems to achieve the highest quality product at the highest throughput possible. They will operate the assigned machinery in a safe and effective manner. They will be responsible for ensuring that all of the duties and tasks are completed in a responsible and professional manner.

Position: Production Operator

The position of Production Operator is focused on maximizing mill equipment and systems to achieve the highest quality product at the highest throughput possible. They will operate the assigned machinery in a safe and effective manner. They will be responsible for ensuring that all of the duties and tasks are completed in a responsible and professional manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Shift work, weekends as required
  • Performing hand-add batch additives, pellet mill operation, roller mill/hammer mill operation, sequencing, mill routing & Bagging line operation
  • Responsible for following all feed safety procedures and regulations
  • Receiving of bulk ingredient process and procedures
  • Adhere to Bulk and Bagged Shipping and Loading process and procedures
  • Conducting quality checks to ensure that the products are being produced that meet established quality standards and specifications
  • Operating manufacturing equipment in accordance with established operating procedures.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve operational problems.
  • Conducting basic maintenance on equipment.
  • General housekeeping duties to ensure the mill areas are organized and clean, and in compliance with all biosecurity requirements.
  • Schedule and execute production based on proper sequencing for feed safety.
  • Schedule bulk deliveries based on proper sequencing, efficiency, and specific customer needs.
  • Bagging feed.
  • Loading of bulk trucks and van trailers as required.
  • Attention to detail and due diligence is involved in every aspect of this position.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills Required Include:

  • 2 years of manufacturing experience in an automated process control environment.
  • Minimum High school diploma
  • Self starter who thrives with clear direction.
  • Strong communication skills, teamwork and organization skills
  • Ability to work an automated production system.
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands on basic maintenance experience.
  • Ability to read and understand technical materials.
  • Familiar with operations within a warehouse setting, products and particular handling requirements.
  • Must be able to lift 25kg repetitively and without restriction and complete other physical demands of the job.
  • Excellent communication, decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Microsoft Office applications.
  • Leadership experience considered an asset.
  • Able to tolerate and work in extreme temperatures.
