The R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home is a Long-Term Care Home to 137 Residents and employs 250 staff in various Departments.

Position Description

The Ward Clerk is responsible for clerical, scheduling & replacement of nursing staff and other related duties in all areas of the facility as directed by the Director of Clinical Services in accordance with the Mission, Core Values, Vision, and Policies & Procedures of the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home. The Ward clerk serves as a positive rolemodel as a partner in the provision of care and support of our Residents, represents the home in a positive, professional, efficient and confidential manner. Required Qualifications: Competent in using various computer software packages, Excel, Word and Microsoft Office; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Excellent attention to detail; Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet to deadlines; Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology; Demonstrated professional / positive behavior; Data entry is accurate; Excellent customer service orientated with a professional and friendly approach. Display a proactive manner and ability to multi task. Regular & consistent attendance is essential.

Required Experience/Education: Grade 12; Medical Terminology Course; Basic Computer Skills and experience with internet/email; Scheduling & Replacement utilizing Union Contracts; Preferably 2 years previous experience within a LTC or hospital environment.

Hours of Work

56 hrs Scheduled Bi-weekly (subject to change) Paid for Breaks and Lunch

Weekday/ and bi-weekend rotation

Shifts can be 8 hr. /4 hr. and 10 hr. /days. (Additional hours as replacement required to cover Vacation/Holiday, / sick time, etc., (subject to availability)

Salary: $22.0700-$22.4449/hr.

Benefits/Pension Information:

Pension – can defer three (3) mos. NSHEPP

Benefits – All

Sick Pay – Following successful completion of Probation Period of 528 hrs.

Holiday and Vac Time prorated on time worked (April 1 – March 31)
