Job Summary
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Volunteer Youth Soccer Coaches to support our community sports programs. This rewarding role involves mentoring young athletes, promoting teamwork, and fostering a love for sports in a positive environment. The position offers an opportunity to develop coaching skills while making a meaningful impact on youth development and community engagement.
Duties
- Plan and lead engaging soccer practices tailored to various age groups and skill levels
- Teach fundamental soccer skills, rules, and sportsmanship principles
- Organize and supervise youth games, ensuring safety and fair play
- Provide encouragement and constructive feedback to players to promote confidence and growth
- Collaborate with other coaches and program staff to coordinate activities and events
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages teamwork, respect, and enjoyment of the sport
- Assist with water safety protocols, including swimming supervision when applicable during summer camps or related activities
Experience
- Prior experience in coaching youth sports is preferred but not required; training will be provided
- Knowledge of soccer fundamentals and techniques is beneficial
- Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate young athletes are essential

Volunteers who demonstrate strong coaching quality, professionalism, and a commitment to player development — and who complete the required certifications — will be considered for paid coaching positions within the Organization as opportunities arise.

- Do you have any experience playing soccer, coaching soccer, or participating in organized sports?
- Why are you interested in volunteering as a youth soccer coach with Wascana FC?
- Our training sessions are every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:45 PM to 7:15 PM until August 27. Can you commit to attending these sessions consistently?
- Are you comfortable leading and supervising a group of 10–12 children (ages 7–11) during training sessions?
- This is a volunteer position requiring approximately 3 hours per week. Are you able to make this commitment for the full season?
- All volunteer coaches must complete required certifications (such as Respect in Sport and coach education). Wascana FC will guide you through the process, but you must complete the training yourself. Are you willing to do this?
- Have you previously worked or volunteered with children? If yes, please describe your experience.
