Job Title & Overview

Position: Steam Truck Operator *washing equipment*

*looking to hire experienced steamers or wash bay attendants only*

* note this is a physically demanding job, you will be covered in mud and won’t be driving more than an hour a day*

Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta

Schedule: 14 days on / 14 days off, rotating days and nights each shift

Wage:

  • $38/hour – with experience

(with room to move up based on performance)

SGE Mechanical is hiring Steam Truck Operators to support oilsands operations in the Fort McMurray area. We are a safety‑oriented company looking for reliable people who aren’t afraid of hard work and can take care of their equipment.

1. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate steam trucks safely on site
  • Perform basic truck maintenance: check oil and fluids, top up as needed, and handle simple upkeep
  • Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip checks and report defects
  • Follow all site and company safety rules and procedures
  • Complete daily paperwork accurately and on time (logs, inspections, etc.)

1. Requirements

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with air brake endorsement
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to do simple maintenance
  • Manual transmission experience is an asset, but not required
  • Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test
  • Safety focused and able to follow rules and procedures
  • Reliable, willing to work long days in all weather conditions
  • Able to complete daily paperwork clearly and consistently

1. Work Locations & Camp Details

  • Local candidates (Fort McMurray area):
  • Primarily working at Syncrude Base Mine
  • Non‑local candidates:
  • Work at Fort Hills, Suncor, and CNRL sites
  • Camp accommodations provided
  • Flights provided to/from Edmonton and Calgary
