The Opportunity
As a Team Lead, Production, you'll play a key role in ensuring our cultivation and production operations run efficiently, safely, and at the highest quality standards day to day. Your work will directly support the Production team by guiding and developing frontline staff, driving consistent output, and upholding compliance and best practices, while contributing to the broader Village Farms mission of leading a sustainable path forward for global cannabis.
What You'll Do
Production
- Direct production staff to execute an all-production order
- Perform Start up or pre-operational checks
- Collaborate with Materials Management team to ensure materials are staged on time
- Track hourly throughput and machine performance
- Train employees on SOPs or Standard Work Instructions (SWI)
- Support supervisors in managing day to day employee performance and provide shift leadership during supervisor absences
- Take attendance at the beginning of each shift
- Complete shift reports hourly
- Provide operational leadership across multiple production rooms or lines
- Collaborate with supervisors to sustain continuous improvement initiatives
- Timely escalation of quality and maintenance issue
- Oversee the change overs daily and set up the line according to each run
- Ensure the pace of production is always upheld
- Cooperate with admin to complete production & repack transactions
Quality
- Ensure all quality standards are met during line clearance
- Perform daily scale calibrations
- Complete In-Process control checks
- Monitor quality control points to ensure they are within limits during hourly checks
- Support product quality investigations with insights as an SME
- Complete Quality records
- Stage and verify materials prior to the production run
- Ensure Boundary samples are setup and cleared accurately
- Conduct 30-minute In-Process checks for each production run
Safety
- Ensure all employees are wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Perform routine safety checks and escalate issues / concerns
- Verify that equipment is in good working condition before operation
- Ensures that work is done in a safe manner
- Fill near miss and incident reports
- Administer training to staff during onboarding and when needed
OTHER DUTIES
Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned. Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Village Farms International, Inc. from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.
This role is on-site, which requires you to work in Village Farms facility at all times in a Team Lead, Production role or directly supporting operations.
The scheduled shifts and hours for this role is as follow: Monday-Friday ; 2:30pm – 11:00PM.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Standard First Aid and CPR training an asset
- 1 – 2 years of experience in a Lead role or similar
- 1 year experience as a production operator or in a related environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple production areas independently and make timely decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Ability to follow instructions and directions and solicit feedback to improve performance.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound professional judgment and decision-making ability.
- Knowledge of Punjabi is an asset.
