School Overview

Located on the waterfront in North Vancouver, Bodwell High School is a university-preparatory independent day and boarding school for students in Grades 8-12. For more than 35 years, Bodwell has welcomed students from Canada and around the world into a vibrant, multicultural learning community.

Bodwell’s Media Team supports student recruitment, family engagement, school storytelling, reputation-building, and brand visibility across digital, print, video, social media, and internal communication channels. The team works closely with recruiters, school leadership, students, alumni, parents, and staff to share the stories of Bodwell’s diverse community.

We are seeking a permanent, full-time Digital Content & Media Creator to join our Media Team. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, creative, digitally fluent, and comfortable helping move content from idea to publication.

About the Role

The Digital Content & Media Creator is an on-site, hands-on role supporting digital content creation, social media, media publishing, asset organization, website/newsletter updates, and recruitment-facing materials.

The position reports to the Senior Manager, Communications & Marketing and works closely with the Visual Media Lead, Graphic & Digital Designer, recruiters, student media contributors, and other departments.

This is a practical, execution-focused role. Initial priorities include social media scheduling, media asset organization, video upload support, captions, thumbnails, Agent Portal updates, and media rollout packages. Over time, the role may grow into more short-form content creation, newsletter support, web/news formatting, reporting, and external editor coordination.

Key Responsibilities

The Digital Content & Media Creator will:

  • Create and prepare short-form content for Bodwell’s social media channels, including reels, short videos, photo posts, stories, captions, hashtags, and basic graphics.
  • Schedule and publish approved content on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other relevant channels.
  • Support the social media calendar by preparing posts in advance and tracking school events, recruitment priorities, student stories, campaign themes, holidays, and key school moments.
  • Prepare captions, descriptions, calls to action, YouTube titles, thumbnails, tags, links, playlists, and basic metadata.
  • Help ensure completed media is uploaded, organized, announced, and easy to find.
  • Prepare media rollout updates and recruiter-ready content packages with approved links, suggested captions, thumbnails, descriptions, calls to action, and usage notes.
  • Prepare and publish blog posts, news items, webpage updates, event recaps, and other web content as assigned.
  • Apply basic SEO formatting, including headings, links, alt text, metadata, image naming, and clean page structure.
  • Assist with newsletter layout, image preparation, link checking, mailing lists, and basic performance tracking.
  • Assist the Visual Media Lead with importing, organizing, naming, and preparing photo and video assets.
  • Support editing workflows, including subtitles, captions, thumbnails, simple video edits, file exports, B-roll organization, Canto collections, and digital signage updates.
  • Help maintain an organized Agent Portal or Partner Hub with current brochures, videos, photos, templates, forms, links, FAQs, calendars, recruitment materials, and campaign assets.
  • Assist with content related to Academies, boarding life, university preparation, student outcomes, Vancouver/North Vancouver, local pathways, and other recruitment themes.
  • Support project tracking, content calendars, media requests, campaign preparation, approved templates, file naming, folder organization, brand standards, school events, student media contributors, and small external editing projects as needed.

Your Strengths, Experience, and Abilities

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A diploma, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in Digital Media, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Film/Video Production, Design, or a related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in digital content, social media, communications, marketing, video production, media production, or a related area.
  • Comfort creating short-form content for Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other digital channels.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop, Canva, CapCut, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, or comparable platforms.
  • Working knowledge of email marketing, CMS/web platforms, Google Analytics, and social media scheduling tools.
  • Basic SEO and web formatting skills, including headings, links, alt text, metadata, and clean page layout.
  • Strong written English skills, including proofreading, caption writing, short descriptions, and simple web copy.
  • Strong organization, accuracy, follow-through, file management, naming convention discipline, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate with staff, students, alumni, recruiters, parents, and external partners in a busy, multicultural school environment.
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and interest in professional growth in marketing, communications, digital media, and education.

Preferred Qualifications

The following would be considered assets:

  • Experience in an independent school, international school, boarding school, university, college, education agency, non-profit, media company, or marketing agency.
  • Experience supporting student recruitment, admissions, international education, or family-facing communications.
  • Experience creating reels, short videos, YouTube content, social media posts, captions, thumbnails, campaign assets, newsletters, blogs, SEO content, CMS updates, subtitles, captions, or basic video exports.

  • Experience organizing photo/video libraries or digital asset management systems.
  • Familiarity with international platforms such as WeChat, Xiaohongshu, LINE, WhatsApp, or other market-specific channels.
