Full job description

The Role

As Curator of Programs, you will play a key role in connecting people with art in meaningful and memorable ways. You will lead the creation of engaging programs that invite audiences of all ages and backgrounds to explore, learn, and experience art.

Working collaboratively across the Gallery, you will bring exhibitions to life through public programming, educational initiatives, and creative partnerships. You will help shape inclusive and thoughtful experiences that reflect diverse perspectives and encourage curiosity, creativity, and dialogue.

Key Responsibilities

This role will focus on:

· Designing and delivering engaging public programs that complement exhibitions and activate the collection.

· Leading educational programming, including school, family, and community initiatives.

· Building strong relationships with artists, educators, and community partners to co-create impactful experiences.

· Supervising and supporting program staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality programming.

· Developing digital content such as talks, videos, or podcasts to broaden access and reach.

· Embedding accessibility, inclusion, and anti-oppression principles into all programming.

· Managing program logistics, evaluation, and continuous improvement.

· Supporting budgeting, reporting, and grant-related activities.

· Contribute to an inclusive workplace by demonstrating respect for diverse perspectives, supporting equitable and accessible practices, and fostering a welcoming environment for colleagues, artists, and visitors.

What We're Looking For

· 3 to 5 years of experience developing and delivering public or educational programming in a gallery, museum, or similar environment.

· Strong knowledge of art history, contemporary art, and approaches to art education.

· Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and cultural safety, including experience working with Indigenous communities.

· Proven ability to build meaningful relationships with artists, partners, and community stakeholders.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience creating engaging public-facing content.

· Experience with digital or multimedia programming is considered an asset.

· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

· Knowledge of budgeting processes and funding environments.

· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

· Willingness to travel and to work occasional evenings and weekends.

· A Master’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Position Details:

Hours: Permanent full-time unionized position. Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional evening and weekend work as required

Salary: $40.49 per hour (effective March 22, 2025). Unionized position, CUPE Local 410, Pay Grade 8
